No need to appologize. I don't have 2000+ downloads and I don't have a 1.x star average (mine is 627 and 3.27 if anyone cares). However I have been rating randomly without even watching the video and some of those ratings were 1's so your comment was fair.

On the bright side, giving every DBZ and Naruto vid a 1 sight unseen seems to have done some good. I have yet to get a DBZ or Naruto vid to pop up in the suggested videos.

And you'd be right according to the org. ^.~

I learned a lot when I was asking (foolishly) for an 'angst' category - so people wouldn't *have* to put 'character profile, drama, serious' just to convey that it's an angsty video. But according to AD angst isn't a category and in order to show that it's angst, you *have* to mark off those three - plus action if it's a fast paced video with violence, and romance if there is a theme of romance behind the angst and violence.

Saying a character profile is *just* a character profile doesn't work when you have videos 'profiling' comedy characters (happy, fun, enjoyable characters for whom videos would probably include 'character profile, fun, comedy, dance') - and also characters for whom a profile is 'angsty' - meaning 'character profile, drama, action, serious'. Those are two very different types of videos - you need the other categories to differentiate between the opposite 'types' of character profiles.

If you every do any video that is angsty, you're doing (according to the org definitions), either a horror video, or a character profile. That's AD's definitions - they can't be changed. So if your angsty video focuses on a lot more than one character, and isn't disturbing enough to be horror, you're going to have to check off a mix of categories in order to explain that it's 'angst'. That's the way it's done at conventions (according to AD), so that's the way it's done on the org.

I'm surprised anyone would here complain about that. If anything, we lean toward accepting even *more* similar categories (think fun/comedy and drama/serious) - instead of getting the ones that would denote a mix (letting you honestly choose 1 category instead of 5).

Wouldn't it be good if when you clicked "other" a little box came up and you could fill it out to what catergory you think your AMV is. Although it'd mess up the VCA's I guess.

Whatever.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

This brings up something I've been wondering, what is the difference between drama and serious? I can deal with fun and comedy, DDR is fun but it isn't funny for example, but I can't think of a single video that would be serious and not a drama of some sort.

i suppose if you had some serious killing? i think you could have a video that was action and serious but not considered drama, because when i think of drama i dont think OH! DEATH!

That's funny, when I think drama 'Oh! Death!' is the first thing I think of. Perhaps my viewpoint is just being colored by the fact my wife made me watch Beaches recently though.

I think the main difference is between mood and plot. A dramatic video needs a sort of darker mood, while serious just relies on the story, and doesn't necessarily have to be moody. I'm not saying dramatic means moody, but that seems to be the main distinction. A drama video can't be serious, but a serious video can be not dramatic.

It's hard to think of an example, because the two are so similar and because I can't watch videos, but Path of the Deus (not that you can d/l it), if I remember correctly, is more serious but not dramatic.

Could use AD's opinion on this, but I think Arima Shinjikun is more serious than dramatic.

I'm betting other people could come up with more examples, but I watch mostly drama so I can't help much. :?
