Newbies: How to make your first AMV

Can someone please name some good AMV Software makers? (preferabally free..I'm broke.

) ...and..I'd use Windows Movie Maker but sadly, I don't have XP. I have 2000 pro...

I'd appreciate any help on this...Thanks in advance.

Dude i use Vegas 4.0 from sony give it a try you cab download it from kazaa
btw premiere give's you a really hard time

[speaking through the mind of an annoyed newbie] I have never read the same question so many times, in my life. Now I know why you all hates newbies so much! I'm quite ashamed but thats alright, I have no place in ranking those who are members of this site.

I watched one of my friend's AMVs and saw a few others and thought they were really neat. When I came across this site I wasn't solely looking for specific answers on how to do everything. I just wanted to know what it was about.....educate myself. I've read all the pages on this topic and found them to be of great help if I were to make AMVs in the future.

I would definitely be interested in doing so if I purchased a new computer. To quote someone from the site [I can't remember who it was] a good computer is key. I plan on reading the guides and understanding more about the general idea of an animated music video before I actually attempt to concieve one. Thank you for your.....information. Hopefully whenever my time comes to become a creator of [in time] good work, I'll do better than your average Joe [no affense to the fellow with the nickname: JoesGarage]. I appreciate it thank you a lot...for informing [indirectly] this lame little gal on what some of this stuff is.

I also hope to find anime I like more than what I currently know of, soon enough.

You can ask, but generally - the guides do a good job of telling you all you need to know, so you may as well read them.

Thank you for asking. See, I'm pretty sure Im quite possibly an example that if you're not being completely annoying with all of your questions. A newbie can be welcomed to the site, in a kind way.
Then again I haven't asked any 'questions' yet. We shall wait and see, once I get my new computer then the test will show the truth

I think people here are much more willing to answer questions if the person asking demonstrates that they are willing to put some effort into reading and attempting to understand the information available here before posting questions, and you seem quite capable and willing to do that.

It's almost a relief when someone new shows up and asks specific, informed questions. Most people are quite happy to answer in those cases.

You may also wish to ask for pointers regarding what features are desirable for a computer intended at least partially for video editing, and again, you can find help here.

I'd be quite willing to provide links to a couple sites that I consider valuable if you wish to increase your knowledge of anime, or computer hardware, but I'd prefer to send those links as a private forum message.
Let me know if you'd like them.

And now for the real reason I'm posting in this thread:

Does your nick reference the anime Key the Metal Idol?
If I correctly presume it does, I just have to say it's very cool. 8)

Wow, [to feel completely inferior] no. Its not referring to any anime related subject. See I would be very interested in educating myself more in the subject of anime. Thats one thing I would like to do before I actually make my first anime music video. If you would still be offerring to send me those links, how would you like to do so? i got two questions

1.does any1 create their own videos from ground floor or do yall all use clips from other sources.

2. i also have video clips that i have directed, and performed in, and im willing to see other people creations with my ideas, but the only problem here is i have been in this site 1 hour and i have not read everything as of yet so i dont know where to send the clip to make them available for people to use or if it is allowed on the site. but anyway my things is i wanted to be apart of a group who does the similar things to what i do for fun, hobby and career

Generally, videos are created from a DVD source all the way up. Sometimes, and this is a point of contension among editors, a fansub/raw source of an unlicensed anime may be acceptable.

It's not a law of nature, but this is a sort of 'code of honor' among AMVers. So, work from the very bottom with preferably a DVD source - otherwise, and especially if you take footage from other people's videos (and it's usually easy to tell, since there will be obvious edits within the footage), people will look down on you.

In fact, as someone may less-eloquently put it, taking other people's footage = death
