Actually, I expected that there would be a ton of cases like this for me, but...
The only AMV that I can think of that directly turned me onto a musical artist/thing is Pokich's "Odnazhdi".
On the other hand, AMVers turned me onto a damn lot of music, even if I may have heard it first in an AMV (an example would be Vienna Teng - I may have heard her in a couple of AMVs first, but it was Jasper's overt pimping that actually got me into her music). Hell, several AMVers are collectively responsible for getting me into metal as a whole

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

AMV's used to be my only source for new music, but then I got a dealer. Even if he is busy doing the sluts.

dcdeveloperx's The End made me a crazed Muse fan. (Currently my favorite group ^_^!)
dcdeveloperx's Spin made me discover Splender.
Tash's Experience made me fall in love with Coldplay. (Another favorite!)
)v(ajin Koji's Long Haired Heroes V2: Just A Bit Off The Sides brought me Ben Folds Five.
)v(ajin Koji's Is This Perfection? turned me onto Elbow. (Good stuff man!)
JudgeHolden's Sullen Girl made me a Fiona Apple fan.
Xoninmuoshda's Around . . . Revisited sucked me into Deftones. (And Evangelion
)
DaCoolGohan's The Kill made me love 30 Seconds to Mars.
Aaron's Dbz Movie 12: Fusion made me appreciate Oleander.
burntoast's Haunted made me aware of Evanescence.
Sporkmaster's When Words Fail... brought me into the stunning music of Amethystium. (which is spelled wrong in the catalog btw)
Many of Beowulf's and Tash's Radiohead AMVs made me me a huge fan. (Another favorite!) Yes, Hail To The Thief especially ^_^!
A Dbz AMV called "Forever Strong" made me discover another side of Staind.
Other groups AMVs helped me discover that I can't place the exact AMV:
A Perfect Circle
Disturbed
Linkin Park (DAMN YOU Linkin Ball Z XD!)
Switchfoot
Taproot
Trapt (DAMN YOU Headstrong Naruto AMVs XD!)
And there are many more groups that AMVs made me appreciate and want to listen more, but I haven't gotten around to buying any CD's yet. Call me lazy if you will.
So yeah, you could say AMVs have had an influence on the music I have discovered.
Sidenote; for whatever reason most of my favorite groups are British.

jbone's Urban Ragnarok and feanor's Center of the Sun made me a huge ELO and Conjure One/Rhys Fulber fan. To a lesser extent, [lmt]_lucas' .artificial//Worlds (Wolfsheim) and mckeed's Belldandy is a God (Groove Coverage) have influenced my taste in music.
