You never use cross-dissolves?

I've never used the actual transition version of it... I just adjust the fades.

Canned transitions are for lamers
Zarz obviously uses regular premiere (or worse... something totally different). But in premiere pro they actually make canned transitions (at least the non-starshade ones) respectable. You can play with the start/ stop/ duration much like if you just did it manually.
I used to do everything manually back in plain premiere as well. But now I've seen the light! Seriously, I HIGHLY suggest pro just for this fact. Crossfades and special effects are MUCH easier (once you get the hang of not using rubber bands), not to mention there are ACTUALLY audio editing tools built in. I find it MUCH easier to use (yet not more robust... but I typically don't do much more to the audio than the normal gains and stuff... I mean I'm sure Audacity and other audio programs can do high/ low pass filtering much better, I just don't know how and prefer Premiere Pro's), in fact Premiere back in the day seems to have given me this phobia with vidfx. In Prem Pro it's a wonder I even touch the stuff... AE is another issue all together.
Anyway it is truly sad how you elite are so biased against fx let alone PremPro. So many noobs get so confused with Prem and run to Vegas just cuz you curmudgeons can't give Pro a chance. It's a whole new animal and MUCH improved. Especially now, with Dual Core processors, 512mb+ ram, 100gb+ hds quickly becoming the norm. Win9x is YESTERDAYS news, even MS knows that.
