I just recieved a "Cease & Desist" statement from somebody at Harmony Gold, which said the following:

Please be advised that we are aware of your unauthorized distribution of Harmony Gold U.S.A., Inc. copyrighted material, specifically “ROBOTECH.”

ROBOTECH is the exclusive property of Harmony Gold and we reserve all rights to the exploitation of our property throughout the world. Accordingly, you must cease and desist from any further activities in connection with our ROBOTECH properties or distribution thereof. Please confirm in writing that you will cease and desist from such activities immediately. If we do not receive such written confirmation promptly, Harmony Gold may be forced to take further legal action.

Nothing contained herein shall constitute a waiver of any right, remedy or cause of action at law, in equity, or otherwise, that may be available to Harmony Gold in connection with the subject matter of this letter, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

I don't think any actual company would send a cease and desist by PM.

Also, out of curiosity, on your notice, did it have actual company header, such as address etc. at the top of it, before the message?

Even if a member of the video community reported a creator to the license holders, I doubt the lawyers would join that community in order to send a pm, when they have email accounts for that sort of thing. It really sounds like someone in that community was trying to run you off.

Still, if you're scared, it's better to take down the videos hosted here. And you might not want to distribute vids on that other video forum anymore, regardless of the anime you're using. Unless all the people over there who use this anime got pms, some member over there doesn't like you in particular.

I'd ask other members that also have robotech videos if they got the same letter, cause more than likely its a hoax if they didnt get one too... plus more than likely a company would go after the OWNER of the site before trailing off to its members.... or atleast I would hope so...
