a month and not done? I was like that, 2 months ago for me - and I'm still working on my first!

My hiatus away from my first AMV was because I was for the cd to come in (was editing to a crappy mp3 file until I realized I couldn't fill the full 6 minute song, and to edit I needed the original cd) which took forever (media mail to Hawaii + really bad seller [btw, don't ever buy stuff from Caiman, from any of their sales at ebay, amazon, half.com, etc. as they suck ass, but I digress] + canceling order and ordering from different seller = a very long wait).

Ideas:

1. Edit the song - even if it's a popular song, listen to it very carefully and see if there is a section that you can cut out without affecting the song too much or it's enjoyability. For example, if it has a lot of repeats in its chorus, cut down on them (like if the song has 8 refrains, cut out 4 of them and re-edit the remaining ones - should be good to get rid of 20 secs of time). This also forces you to critically listen to the song and get some more ideas.

2. Export your current work and watch it with a critical eye. I did this and then scrapped about a minute of it and reworked it. Turns out that the part I scrapped was incoherrent anyway and the AMV is better for it (IMHO).

3. buy a spiffy new piece of hardware/software - this way you are almost required to finish it to justify your purchase. I purchased a USB hd and now do almost all of my editing at work durring lunch!

hopefully the above may help you get out of the doldrums of editing those last minutes of your first AMV.

the last 30 sconds (out of 5 minutes) of my last video took me 3 months just to put down (no tweaking) the first 4.5 mins+ only took 2 hours (with minimal tweaking as well!) cuz I listened the song to death before hand.

Don't worry, it's normal.
