When I watch my old vids, I tend to blush and grin and think how cute I was ripping dvds without knowing what 'ripping' meant. ^_^;; There's something about knowing I was that naive that's just cute to look back on. Of course, my third amv is still one of my popular ones, so I wasn't the only cutely naive person on this site.
I find it sad sometimes, though. There are aspects I came into amvs with that I've lost and can't get back. I have this nasty part that wishes I could have learned compression and editing without having to associate with jaded editors. I could have gotten my experience without losing my 'innocence'. I was a lot more creative back then. I miss that.

my problem was I made an effort to clean it up! the program I had just smeared the stuff, it looked so HORRIBLE!! lol oh, but I lost mine too, hope to make it again though soon as I get the bebop dvds.Arcane Azmadi wrote:It was pretty damn awful, largely because we used fansubs and made no effort to clean it up.

What has made me wonder isn't looking back at my own AMVs but rather every now and then I'll run into someone elses video I really liked years ago that now makes me think 'WTF was I on? That thing is a piece of crap!'
As far as my own videos, I'll look at them and say 'Jesus, you suck dick as an editor'. This usually happens about three weeks after I release something, there's no need for me to wait years.

Actually, the only thing I usually cringe at when I watch my older videos (that I haven't gotten around to remastering from DVD yet) is the quality of the source I was working with (VHS, sometimes fairly bad quality fansubs). I can obviously see places where things could have been improved, but for some of them being 9 years old I really can't complain too much.

I go back and watch my videos when I am bored. I see mistakes and I know I could have done somethings better. However, they entertain the heck out of me. Even the videos that I thought didn't turn out so good then I can go back now and have a good time. It's those memories that are in my head that makes me enjoy them. Only I know what meanings I intended when I did something. As long as I don't forget that I can be happy with them. The only thing that does get to me a little is that my top videos here are the ones that are quite old and technically crappier than my newer videos. It does make me wonder if I am doing something different than I did back then. Oh well. I still like them.
