I've seen videos that were indeed greater than the sum of their parts. Less then stellar visuals and/or audio, off timing, a few mess-ups here and there, but yet still managed to be fairly good. Therefore, while if I were to rate that video I'd be obligated to give somewhat low scores for the technical aspects, I'd give Overall and Re-view relatively high scores.

Qualified = count(opinions) > 7

compscore = sum(avg(nonNULL(opinion.category))/count(avg(nonNULL(opinion.category)) except Overall and Re-view

Note: The top and bottom 10% scores are removed from the average calculation (also known as the "Olympic Average")

score = Bayesian Average(avg(compscore+overall+review))

Bayesian Average = (v ÷ (v + m)) × R + (m ÷ (v + m)) × C

where:
R = average for the video (mean) = (old score)
v = number of votes for the video = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the top 10% (7)
C = the mean score across all videos (average all vids)

I always wondered why review weighed so much on the video's overall score for rating purposes, since there are alot of realy great videos that are just not that reviewable due to the concept or theme. (and sometimes even length) but great the first time its watched. Same could apply for some movies released in theaters.

Because the Top 10% List is supposed to be an all-time list, and therefore if a video can't stand up to repeat viewings, it doesn't deserve to be on the list?

Oslt.

sometimes its nice to the the "OMG your so great!!" opinions and it feels good,

but the ones i really appreciate are the ones that tell me where i could have improved or where i could have done something different... or an idea that i never thaught of when i was originally creating the vid.

I usually take the most helpful or longest opinions and leave those public, instead of making the "i love you. i worship you" ones out in the open.... i feel that I still have alot to learn, but thats just me.

Why do you always quote last the thing the person before you said? :?
