Or who actually still edit (Shivan, AisKusoyaro wrote:Just say you're in RDS...they've got so many members they probably can't remember if you're actually in the studio or not

You can also create your own studio. There are many one person groups (Hitori Studios, Aqua Sky Productions, Kusoyaro Productions, etc.) who may call themselves a studio. Usually there aren't many studios who are looking for new members. If they are, they'll make a post about it, and usually don't want people asking to join if they're not recruiting.
As for the talent part of your question, like IcyCloud stated earlier, talent is very subjective. I may thing one person is talented, where as Beowulf thinks the person can't edit at all. Sometimes high opinion and star scores are a good indicator of talent, but it's more an indicator of popularity. Awards and repeated exposure on the top of the opinion/star scales is a better indicator, and another is word of mouth. If you get a lot of people saying "So-and-so is a great editor," you might be inclined to check out the person's work. In the end, though, it's your decision if you like what they do.
As for developing talent, that's different. Talent is an innate ability, a natural endowment (to steal from dictionary.com), and you can't really develop talent, it's just there. Skill, however, is teachable and refinable. Dictionary.com says it's profeciency developed through training and experience, or that it's developed talent. You can read guides, ask questions, brainstorm ideas and practice them to improve your skill. Even just editing improves skill. If you work hard, you can become very good at things people have a talent for. To paraphrase Rock Lee, "Hard work will beat a genius

We need to make studios more like Fraternities. That way we can haze newbiesAtomX wrote:Some people seem to think that AMV Studios are similar to like "clans/guilds" in online games... Noooot quite. They're usually just a group of friends who make videos and do so under a common name. That's pretty much it.
Really the only question that you asked that can really have a definite answer is the first question. Everything else is subjective and based on opinion.
