I wouldn't go that far. I've been making vids because I can for almost 2 years, and I don't feel buried, or even stifled. If anything, I feel encouraged. ^_^

The questions of good/bad ideas:

1: Using songs that haven't been used here at the .org

Dangerous idea, possibly successful.
If no one's used it, there probably aren't many (or any) people who like it. Use it and you'll get that originality mark, but that doesn't mean you'll get many (or any) viewers. On the other hand, if you stumble onto the next popular song first, you may find yourself at the head of a wave of tomorrow's "Most used song" - which is a good thing for at least a year (till it's considered overused and people score you low because those after you had the same idea).

2. [Instead of] Making more AMVs to Linkin Park's "In The End" and Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" (This site has hundreds of them), Doing something that hasn't been done.

Safe idea, no public drawbacks.
You may suffer from giving up ideas that would have pleased you personally, and pleased fans of the 'overused' genre. You may be eliminating an idea that would have produced a great video - a rare thing since there are few great vids to be found amid the 'overused' collections. But you won't get any flames, or any over-anxious fanboy attacks. It's safe on a public level - no risk, no loss.

3. [Not] Making more DBZ AMVs (Not to dis DBZ, but this site has over 7,500 and counting

Same as #2. Safe idea, but with more loss and less gain.
Naruto, Evangelion, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailormoon, YYH, Gundam Wing, Cowboy Bebop, to name a few - you won't be able to use any of these "overused anime." If you outlaw anime that have a number of vids (7,500 in this case) on the org, then you're severely limiting yourself. You can turn to rare anime and remain safe and original, but who's going to watch a video to 'I'll CKBC'? Sure, no one's done it before, but so what? Make one, originality to the max, and no viewers. There's a reason some anime have fewer vids - because fewer people know/like those anime. You can make a nitch using under-used anime, and you'll be safe, but if you want viewers, you'll be lonely. There are a lot of dbz vids because a lot of people know and like dbz. If you're invested in making people happy, you want to give them what they like. Try it and you'll see. If you're not a superb editor, you can use a "never before used" anime and you won't get nearly the praise you would if you used Naruto (which is fast catching up to dbz's stats on the org).

I agree! Just because they do it because they can, doesn't really mean there vids are going to turn out bad or anything.

I think it's a bunch of BS, when people tell you that the person needs suggestion's for a song to a DBZ video they want to make, and then people tell them, DON"T MAKE IT!!! THIS SITE HAS TOO MANY OF THEM!!! I think it get's annoying and people should just shut the hell up, and let people make what they want to make. I made my own DBZ video, not using a linkin park song, and I love it. I"m making an action DBZ video now, but I'm not letting anyone tell me not to make. Sure, originality and creativity is one thing to music videos, but just because people use over-used anime's, doesn't mean they shouldn't use that anime. IF they want to make it, let them. People need to learn and improve their skills, or they just want to have a video of their favorite anime. So, I say, leave the DBZ and other "over-used" anime's alone, and let the creator have fun with it.

Nothing that is said here should offend or discourage anyone from making AMVs of their choosing. When I started this thread, my intention was for creators, based on how they make their own AMVs, to share what they think is a good idea or a bad idea. Also I wanted creators to share, with other creators, and for AMVs in general, what they think is a good idea or bad idea. I was hoping that all posts here will based on personal opinions. No one should take offense or be discouraged from doing what they want to do.
I forgot to mention: Your posts needn't be based on my first post. If you have other thoughts, aside from what I said in my first post, on what would be a good or bad idea, please share them.

Good Idea: Let people make DBZ Vids...and other Over-Used Anime's.
Bad Idea: Force pressure on them to make a video with an anime they don't like or dont want to make one of.

Dude, I respect what you're trying to say here, but again, it is not that (@$#&(*ing easy. What works for you may not work for me, and vice-versa. I don't understand why you continue to flog this horse after about six people have explained this to you.

I think it's a bad idea to base your concepts off what other people think. How about that for a bad idea?

Let me start over and try this one more time. I originally started this thread in General AMV and then it got moved here to AMV Suggestions. My intention wasn't to ask for or offer suggestions, when it comes to making AMVs. So, by all means, creators, veterans and newbies, do whatever it is you want to do.

I wanted people to list
GOOD IDEA: (What have you done, in the past, that has worked out well for you?)
BAD IDEA: (What have you done, in the past, that has not worked out well for you?)
GOOD IDEA: (What will you try to do in the future?)
BAD IDEA: (What will you try to avoid in the future?)
GOOD IDEA: (After watching someone else's AMV, what do you think was a good idea, on the creators part?)
BAD IDEA: (After watching someone else's AMV, what do you think was a bad idea, on the creators part?)
etc,etc.

Also feel free to use any profane language that you see fit
