For me the hardest part of making an AMV is the concept. I can't really force an idea (which sometimes drives me nuts.) I can think of combinations easily enough, but there is only a certain kind I am interested in editing, and that tends to be slow and dark. maybe that's why I've only made 2 AMV's in 2 years.

My biggest problem with Making AMVs is wether the initial concept of the video can be held out for the duration of the song. I'm going to use something I don't like about my own video OLIN, to pretty much describe what I'm talking about.
the video revolved around alot of custom effects in 3d space, and using the hexagons as "thought blocks" unfortunately I couldn't sustain the level of design throughout the entire song hence jumping back and forth between plain video editing and any custom AE work i had done and also the quality of the design itself when i was in AE.
there are at least 6 videos i have primary sketches for and have started story boarding.. but wether I can actually overcomethat. OK I've done that one really cool Idea ... now what comes after that? once i get over that bump i can start storyboarding again and go from there.

Oh no, I wasn't looking for an ego-massage, I was just wondering.trythil wrote:Yes, it really is that hard, and your group is special.
Let's go over that again:
Special.
That's what you wanted to hear, right?
When I say we have a lot of ideas, I mean a lot of ideas- most likely the majority of them aren't that feasible or are even just based on a hunch, sometimes even taking into account anime I haven't even seen completely yet. But we do also have a lot of extremely good idea, a lot of which aren't feasible because of material restrictions (odds of Hana Yori Dango seeing an Australian DVD release: nil, chance of us buying 10+ imported American DVDs just to make an AMV: also nil). However we do have a lot of ideas which we can definitely execute, which we have scheduled for various cons this coming year- a Lain video for Manifest and an Excel Saga video for Animania 2005, plus videos for Abenobashi, Tsukihime, Last Exile, Hoshi no Koe, Rurouni Kenshin OAV and Love Hina if we have time. Which we probably won't. Damn.
