Anime Music In Amvs?

i got an idea now that would use an anime song for a different anime. i think that the idea is fine. actually i have done it before. it didn't turn out too bad and i think it got the story's point across even though it might be crap. anime and amvs work for sure.

Personally I'm with Tobin and Janki on this one. To see a song that relates to the anime in a unique matter...that had absolutely nothing to do with the anime is what really attracts me.

Now if you took an anime song from another anime and combined it with a completely different anime...like in the second example, it would be much better. Although it would still have that feeling of familiarity that might make me prejudge the video without looking out how much effort, etc was actually put into it.

I actually plan on making an AMV to two opposite animes...so I really don't think it's impossible. Such as The Seatbelts "Walk in the Rain" from the soundtrack of Cowboy Bebop. It's a song that would go with many animes, and I would be willing to watch it without bias. But if you took say....Akeboshi's "Wind" with Naruto...it would drag.

I guess what I'm trying to say is it basically depends on the distinct situation of the video and what's being used in it.

I'm all for crossing one anime's song with another anime. Using a song from the anime and putting it back to the anime kinda feels like cheating.

I'd be less interested to an amv if I already knew and heard its song from another anime.

Altimizun's Ai Yori Aoshi - "For Fruits Basket" is a great edit, but I didn't like it much because whenever I watched the amv I'd be thinking about Fruits Basket than AYA. But I rather enjoyed his "Forgotten Love" amv because I never heard of the song in Detective Conan.

If the song fits well enough, there really isn't any reason to not use it.

A song's a song.
