I think what DJ_Izumi is talking about it not people recruiting for studios, but some random anime fansite or fansubing group who is trying to recruit an editor to make videos for their site for content. Is that correct?

Pants...
FIXED.

I dunno mckeed, but that kind of falls in the same category if it isn't what he meant. Studio or site could be interchangeable. But things like that will never change. :)

So what I'm getting is that the problem is this:
people are asking for editors, rather than becoming editors.

I see no problems.

yeah its not really a problem. In the end, as long as they give proper credit to the editors they recruit, I don't really see any harm in it. But I guess some could see it as a way of just wanting to have a popular site/studio without actually doing any of the hard work.

.... Anecdote time... there was this one time where someone asked me to join their studio... i said i'd think about it.

5 minutes later, they IMed me again, saying there was something wrong with a video. What was thier rational? The video didn't show; only the audio. I said they needed the codec for that vid.

They asked me what a codec was. -_-* <--sweatdrop

I have no problem helping people with amv stuff, and it's perfectly understandable for someone not to know what a codec is. We all have to learn at one point or another. However...

Someone trying to start a studio should AT LEAST know what a codec is.

I found it comical.

But in the end, it doesn't even matter.

Is it wrong to be skilled at a hobby?

*ba dum pum ching!*

^_^

8)

Or can't a person whose hobby is painting be considered a skill as well? "That painter has some skill", he/she says...

I believe amv editing is quite a difficult skill to master...
