Ahahaha...

Here's how I do it.

I use the "Show/Hide Audio Waveform" option in Premiere, so that it shows the spikes you see in the pic. That's how I time, and I also time the way jbone does, going frame by frame and marking where I need to put a clip on the Premiere Timeline.

my first amv i listened to the song alot and then thought wbout which clip would go good where, i did that alot, thought about fights while listening to music and trying to make them timed i don't mabye i'm wierd but i found my mind goes on without ending unless i ocupy it with alot of things so i thought about fake fights, things from movies going diferent, i had ideas for books since i'm going to be a writer and i took some things from those and set them to music on the spot as i listened to the music. so one day i thought about an anime music video i saw, i started making it more specific to exact moments i had on my computer, it didn't turn out the way wanted it because of the program i bought but i worked some clips into other songs and it turned out to be one of the best AMV's i ever did and one my friends saw, at least they say that but i never trusted them so i don't now.
