Just the title of the video. Everybody has their own renaming method anyway.

ZOMG! You must be my long-lost twin or something. This is exactly how I rename any that I download.

Although, if I created one (which I am trying my hand at), I would probably name it after whatever I called the video.

Usually just the title, lower case, no spaces. If it's not mpg or wmv, I'll put (xvid) in there so the person will - hopefully - figure out what to download before deleting it as unplayable (those people who don't read vid descriptions). I used to put the number of the video, but I stopped after a while. That's for org vids.

For file sharing, and storage on my computer and cds, I put -
[AMV] number - Title (xvid) [anime-abreviation pairing Yaoi/Yuri/Het]

Note the lack of a song. I don't want my vids downloaded because of the song, especially from file sharing programs. I want them to download for the anime and/or pairing. My name doesn't show unless it's an older vid where I put a splash picture on it. If a vid gets distributed too much, I might add [Ari] in there, but otherwise I don't care much. The numbers and format show them which vids are made/distributed by the same person so they know what to search for if they want more.

I'll usually just name it as Studio-Title.avi. Keeps things simple, and it's the method that I find easiest to find other people's videos in my folder. If they've just named it something generic, I'll usually rename it so that I don't have to open the thing five times whenever I forget what that filename is.

What I want it to be called...that's what I put on it. Proper capitalization, spelling, grammer, and wording.

Editor - Title - Anime.avi

That's how I do it. I think that at the very least, the file name should include the title that they put in the video information page in virtue of it being the name of the video.

It's "grammar".

You can tell from my filenames that I like "[creator]-[title]".

I dislike in the filename:
- "AMV". It's going to an "AMV" directory. This is redundant.
- Codec. "blahblah-DIVX.avi"... I don't care.
- Too short. ie: "potato.mpg" or just an acronym. (exception :P)
- Versioning. ie: "final", "output" in the filename.
- Spaces or punctuation. I've seen too many "%20"s in downloaded files.
- ".mswmm". Don't upload a project file. :)

Ultimately, who cares since I can just rename them, but the OP asked....
