Anime Opening Re-enactment Video

Post by Ileia » Fri Jul 01, 2005 9:16 am

Now, yes, I know, live-action = NO

But has anyone ever done a live-action re-enactment vid of an anime opening?
Or would that not go over well? Since, of course, most people will have seen the opening, and if you just make a near-exact replica of it, it would be rather boring, the viewer would already know what was going to happen. Would it be better to do a comedic interpretation of it?

Additionally, it would be really damn hard to find some people that looks like the characters (or you could get lucky and want to use an opening that only has one character in it, like Serial Experiments Lain, and your little aspiring actress cousing is the spittin' image of her). It really depends on what anime a person chose to use.

The idea was rolling around in my head, I haven't exactly started casting calls or anything, but I thought that I would throw the idea out there, so that more experienced editors could lend their thoughts on the subject.

Some crossdressing Japanese otaku recreated the Card Captor Sakura opening. More info and download here. (they actually did an entire episode)

I remember some live-action-redone dancing scenes from a Kodocha sequence, but it's been a while since I've seen it...

Carlos should record him, Chops and MJ re-enacting the Rayearth intro.

Fluxy can be Mokona.

I have a copy of the To Heart anime opening done in a similar vein, I think done by the same group. *shudder* These things are like the Saban Sailor Moon thing: horrors to scar the unwary and laugh at their reactions.

IIRC, that was part of "Kodomo no Evangelion 2," which was a parody of the second Kodocha opening (Ultra Relax) with the Eva characters (and the live action dancers, including one shot outside the Gainax Shop). There's also an all-original-animation "Kodomo no Evangelion 1," which was a parody of the first Kodocha opening (7 O'Clock News) using the Eva characters.

I've got copies of both buried somewhere in my binders of CDs, but have no idea where to download them anymore.
