Actually...yeah. Some of them probably thought exactly that - "what's the most obscure and original audio I can come up with that will prove my video isn't like the general crap vids out there using pop songs just because they're heard them so many times on the radio they've convinced themselves they're good." For some of the really strict originality-buffs, it's more important than liking the song you're editing with.danarchking777 wrote:...did the editors think "whats the most obscure song i can find?"
But I'm looking at the top 10 list and while I can see the obscure songs you're referring to, few of those particular people were using them *just* to be original. More like they picked non-mainstream songs they liked - with an eye to originality - but also because they liked them.
Keep in mind that most of the reviews on that list are given by non-editors. No matter what spiel editors give you again and again, the song is *not* the most important thing in an amv. If it were, those viewers would just listen to the radio, or watch an original music video to that song. People will 'learn to like' strange songs if they like the eyecandy enough.
