Some Questions! Please answer

Post by Uzumaki13 » Sat May 08, 2004 8:18 pm

Hi, I'm new. I'm sorta young (13), but I'm sure I can put together a music video if I tried hard enough! Ok, I know theres a post covering how to make a good video, and it says there are some programs to use for free. What are these? If it says it in another post, please tell me, I'm sorry! And, If I were to download the DivX Trial, I could use it to record stuff right? Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!

more specifically http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=14257 for free editing programs.

divx doesn't exactly record stuff on its own. follow http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/ to rip dvds and cds to your computer and for other media look in http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/

Haha, glad to see somebody that age has hope. I started making AMV's at the same time.

Just use Windows Movie Maker at the start. Pretty much everyone else does.

Except those fuckers who get to start out with Premiere pro and NEVER TASTE THE BAD FIDELITY OF WMM! DAMN THEM!

Right then....moving on...

You could easily use Premiere first. I did, but stayed the hell away from the Video/Audio Effects and Transistions. I was paranoid of goofing the thing up if I touched those. :P

dun worry if ya 13, i started workin on AMV's when i was 14 and that didn't stop me.

besides the earlier you start the faster you'll learn because the learning curve for kids is alot better.

i think it's best if u skip Movie Maker and go straight to Premiere (if u can find a copy) because the longere you use Movie Maker the harder it is to transfer across to Premiere.

but i guess it's up to u.

hope to see some AMV's from you in the future

Most of the major editing programs have demos that will let you try them out for a month or so.
On the assumption that you are on a windows platform:

WMM2 - (free) lots of people make excellent videos using this. But you pretty much get what you pay for.
Premiere - Currently the apparent favorite. A bit daunting at first, it's a top notch program.
Vegas - Seemingly the rising star these days. Equally daunting to a first time user.
For the rest, just look around.

Age is not a true determiner of talent. Only you can establish that. There are some excellent, award winning videos done by very young users on this site. But none of that really matters. Just enjoy what you do, and the rest will follow.
