Post by DrngdKreationz » Wed Jan 21, 2004 12:55 am

Ugh, im pretty sure that im not the only one in this forum suffering from it... but Writers block.. you ever look @ something for a while and just think to yourself..."now what was i trying to do here, with this footage?" i think i've been knocking myself over the head with that board for about 3 days now on and off of sitting here. and i was just wondering what other people do to try and get rid of it..... other than beating yourself over the head with it until it clears. lol

Rewatch your favorite vids, skim over your favorite episodes for the anime you're using, listen to the song on loop with your eyes closed till you know why you chose it to begin with - if you haven't picked a song, listen to random songs while skimming through the footage till inspiration hits. I typically go to a fanfic or vid with the right genre of the story I want to tell, but then, I'm used to dealing wth real 'writer's block' - as in blank walls when you're trying to write. But I find the same sort of motivators/distractions tend to work. If not, walk away from it for a while. Let your thoughts wander away until you remember what you wanted to do - or find something you'd like to watch (to see made).

'When we have nothing to say, better to say nothing
When we have nothing to do, better to do nothing' -R.F.

That's my approach, essentially. If it's not jumping right out, perhaps it's a good idea to hold off. Then again, some people do like to keep constant practice; but I'd still rather people didn't force themselves to edit.

I have been suffering actual writer's block for several months now (I don't make AMVs). It sucks an awful lot, but sometimes, there just isn't anything you can do and inspiration leaves you in the dust.

I have found that the best way is to make yourself sit down and write something, whatever's on the top of your head, until you can break the spell. However, I can't speak for editing, because, well, I don't
