AMV song discrepancy intended for Otakon.

Post by SpYdEr_Dan » Tue Mar 18, 2003 11:34 am

ladies and germs...

i have something on my mind that is bothering me.

i have a AMV im working on...going to the song by Puddle of Mudd called "She Hates Me"

now...during a few parts in the song, the lead singer in a normal tone will say "she f****n hates me"

my dilema here is, will the fact there is blatent swearing be looked down upon and disqualified? or should i just go ahead and use the edited version of the song?

Otakon's pretty good about keeping the contest "family-friendly." Keep in mind it's a HUGE con, now, with attendance in the ten-thousands (including lots of younger people, now).

As far as I know, there's only been one curse word in the main contest... "fucking," which was in "This is Your Life" in 2001. Of course, it was only ONE curse in the song, and was in and out, and a warning was made in the opening screen to the main contest...

The song in question (Puddle of Mudd's) uses the same word over and over pretty blatantly, so it may very well be disqualified on that basis...

Perhaps you could consider using the edited version for the Otakon submission, and an uncensored one for online distribution or other con entries?

i was worried about something like that...with the large amounts of younger con goers i noticed last year, it would probley make more sense to do that then.

thanks for the feedback.

IANMP, but I'd say to try and keep your video clean if possible. If you're seriously concerned about language/content, it means that the coordinators will be as well and you may want to rethink what you're doing. A lot of parents go to the AMV contest and they're the ones you have to watch out for. Good luck!
