In this case, I'm curious to hear what you guys have for feedback here.
Recently, got a chance to listen to the soundtrack to The Warriors.
Honestly, getting a chance to sit down and listen to the music, a lot of this in particular has potential for some good vids.
In particular though, there's one song in here that's sticking out for me.
The final track on the OST, 'Last of an Ancient Breed' by Desmond Child.
Honestly rather interested in trying something with this song, but I'm trying to find a source that'll work well with it (...and also trying to avoid potentially going into any number of overused shonen titles to do it. The genre's got some good ones I'd give a look-see...but understand, kind of want to avoid the 'tried and true' ones, as it were.)
Anyways...the lyrics:
There is such little glory in a poor man’s life
He works for his money and it takes a while
But a poor man’s son could be a hero in the night
With a fist full of anger and the will to fight
Seize this moment in your hand
Take it and run
There’s a trigger in your mind
And you’re loaded like a gun
Warriors
Warriors, make it like a man see/Make like a banshee/Make life a fantasy [what lyrics sites I've checked can NEVER seem to agree on what this line is. Please tell me there's any sort of jacket info that'll confirm something here... For ease, future occurences of this line will be marked with '*']
All this time, we’ll ride the devil’s steed
Gonna stand our ground
On this part of town
Like the last of an ancient breed
Like the last of an ancient breed
Teen angels meet at the lamp post light
In an alley by the river in the dead of night
Shed their blood and swore their vows to keep
While the center sons were in the throws of sleep
We'll seize this moment in our hands
Take it and run
There’s a trigger in your mind
And you’re runnin’ like a gun
Warriors
*
All this time, we’ll ride the devil’s steed
Gonna stand our ground
On this part of town
Like the last of an ancient breed
Like the last of an ancient breed
Seize this moment in your hand
Take it and run
There’s a trigger in your mind
And you’re loaded like a gun
Warriors
*
All this time, we’ll ride the devil’s steed
Gonna stand our ground
On this part of town
Like the last of an ancient breed
Like the last of an ancient breed
Like the last of an ancient breed
Warriors
*
All this time, we’ll ride the devil’s steed
Gonna stand our ground
On this part of town
Like the last of an ancient breed
Like the last of an ancient breed
In terms of style of the song. Well, for one thing, given the source it's coming from should give you kind of an idea on style. Pace is about medium.
Curious to hear if anyone's got any suggestions here.
Normally not one to ask on suggestions for animes, but...

i agree that claymore could be a good possibility, however some of the lyrics (such as talking about wives and stuff) would probably be better suited towards men.
so, whenver you talk about wars/warriors just about any of the gundam series work heh. if you want a scifi type theme they work well.
You could also try some of the macross series (the new macross frontier is one i've considered using and it would actually fit this song pretty well it seems, i might actually use that idea myself lol).
Actually the best fit would probably be this:
It's been used a bit but Samurai X: trust and betrayal (the first kenshin movie, or OVA, whatever it is) seems like it would fit this quite well, plenty of scenes with samurai fighting and some excellent scenes that would match the "last of an ancient breed" chorus. there are just so many scenes that match the lyrics.
And, while this sounds a bit more toned towards men, i think the series Grenadier (or the smiling senshi is the alternate title) would be a good match. shows a number of scenes where tired and haggared troops continue pushing foward despite their suffereing and also some good scenes with a samura and a gunslinger woman who can match some of the more solitary lines.
the lyrics look interesting, i'll have to take a listen to this song. thanks for sharing it

Hmmm. Some interesting suggestions so far
*will see what info he can find on Claymore and Gungrave*
Also jasta - While some war-based titles could work, the title is a bit misleading (the movie, and as a result, the Warriors reference in the song) is actually referring to a gang, but still...that angle is fairly workable.
Admittedly, two others kind of considering as options:
-Venus Wars (would need to review the movie though)
and
-Freedom (admittedly, this one's a bit of a longshot. Working off of synopsis so far, tracking down the series)
Also, if you wanna take a crack at the song, by all means.
This should give a bit of a better idea of the sound

wow, my bad, completely different from what i imagined, i had just been to a couple movies and they had been playing those army promotion songs and the lyrics made me think it was something like that. ok, change of series then
first thing that pops to mind when i see this is GTO, i can see that working with this song.
