Well, i dunno, but ive really havent seen many women into amv's until the past few days talking to new people on the org and welcoming them and thinking they are guys.....Is it me, or are women getting into this stuff? I'm glad they are, nice to see a change of sex.....

No offense, but if you just got into amv's this year, most everyone is going to be new to you.
This forum has a lot of users, but I would say that a significant amount of the posters don't yet make amvs (male and female) and even some have said they don't even like anime
In other words, this forum isn't a great measuring stick.
Looking back at the names in the contests at cons over the years, women (or girls..whatever) have been involved in amvs for what looks like as long as the guys. Not a whole lot though. Go check out the archives of the amv mailing list on yahoo for proof there are girls in amvs.
To answer your question specifically, in my opinion, the actual number of people who know about and watch amvs is growing, so of course the numbers of both sexes would grow. The girls would stand out more because there are a lot of guys in amv's...and..well...I am sure a lot of anime/amv guys like that sort of thing so they are going to notice
I think there are definitely more girls watching but I don't know about the actual creators increasing an awful lot.

Women are getting into all sorts of technical areas these days, but I don't know if there's been an increase in the amv editors or not. It's hard to tell with some of the names people use. When I see a new person I automatically assume it's a he, and so far I've only found one new editor that I think might be a girl - and that hasn't been verified yet because I didn't ask. But I can say that I've done a lot of reviews in the last two months, and of those only I only know of about 6 that were openly female (meaning that was mentioned on their profile pages). And even among the older editors that post regularly on the forums, the number of people I recognize as being girls is pretty low compared to the number of guys. I think that's probably natural. I still get people telling me it's strange for girls to watch anime and play rpgs.
