There are several schools of thought on the subject,
One of course is the more laid back approch givin' by tyithl (sorry if i misspelled?) and (for the most part) sarah.
Getting rid of the system for voting and stuff, it would seem to solve alot of problems, and hell, maybe it would (even though we'd probably be blindly downloading videos that EVERYONE knows sucks, or maybe two of the same video, you just wasted bandwidth) but with that comes problems.
Or the secound solution, the one we have now,
Now the good thing about this way, is the fact that, yes we (by "we" I mean SOME of us) are trying to make better videos, personaly I would absolutly LOVE to make the best video on the org (yes yes i know, dont give me a damn lecture on how everyone see's videos diffrently blah blah blah).
And somtimes I think, that scoring system provides a motavation, to maybe, become better than you can be, try new things, be better, do better, be more carefull with your cuts, be more artistic.
This side of course has flaws too (like the random fact that ANYONE can boost anyone's scores).
But lets face it, both sides have flaws, you can go with one, or the other, we'll all end up in the same place,
Bitching.
End.

If scoring is one of your motivations to do good work, then I feel sorry for you.And somtimes I think, that scoring system provides a motavation, to maybe, become better than you can be, try new things, be better, do better, be more carefull with your cuts, be more artistic.

Re: 3
Why do you feel sorry for him? I'm sure it's not his only motivation. I mean i make my AMVs for myself and others to watch, others come second. Although i dont deny that i got a great feeling when Souls and Shells was top of the star ratings list, even if it was only for a couple of days.trythil wrote:If scoring is one of your motivations to do good work, then I feel sorry for you.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

Whether or not it's his only motivation or not, I think even including scoring as a motivating factor to make good work is a really stupid thing to do.)v(ajin Koji wrote:Why do you feel sorry for him? If you want to do something (and presumably, people want to make AMVs), then I don't why you'd need an external reason to do it well.

Damn, I meant to address this in my first post. Oops.
People are usually more intelligent and civil when you meet them face to face, anyway.
So submit them to a convention or some other public area.OzzieArcane wrote:The fact that it's nice to be able to get feedback on your videos and it's a well known fact most people are too lazy to use e-mail for that for some reason.trythil wrote:How so? What's wrong with just a catalog and a download center?

What if? What if a comet hits us and we all die tommorow. The day will come when the org shuts down, and we'll all have to find someway to cope. "All good things must come to an end." In the mean time lets enjoy our stay.
