djs in amvs

This probably could have gone in the general amv section, but after the 'Perverts' post, I figured I'd ask here. What's the policy about using doujinshi images in a music video? I mean, we're already using someone's anime, and someone's song, so what's one more theft. But is there any problem with having various dj pics added into an anime music video? And I don't mean the explicit things since I'm thinking more of the locally stored videos. Is there any rule about using pics? And is there a limit? I've seen manga scans, but not as many dj (non-anime creator) art pics used. So, what's the verdict? And is there a rule or sticky thread about this? ^_^ Any info would be much appreciated.

I don't think there's any problem with using them- several of the editors have used them in different capacities. Zarxrax's Doujin Addiction uses doujinshi images (by its very nature, it has to), and AD's Arima Shinji-kun uses a number of images that he had to draw himself for it. If there's a way to contact the artist, it might not be a bad idea to contact them and ask for permission, and give credit to the artists (either in the video credits or the writeup). But, most likely it shouldn't be a problem to use them.

ya I think it's ok but we do already take dvd/vhs video and songs so it don't really matter

If you use someone's fanart and you can ask them then do.

I know theft is theft but you never know they might even be happy you are using the image and give you a higher quality version

Well, if I want fanart, I'd do my own - and I'd definitely ask before using anyone else's work. Though I know *I* would love to have someone ask for my pics in their work, so I won't rule that out. ^^

That's why I wondered about dj images - since most artists don't leave their emails or contact information around for non-japanese reading people to find. >.< I was thinking of a couple of djs that I've bought, but I got them over ebay and I don't know the full names of some of the artists - second hand books, inability to read the kanji and text on the covers. I'm not sure I'll be able to give completely accurate credit to the circles I might use in a vid, let alone the separate names of the djs - since some are translated wrongly (even I can read enough to know that). But if you have pics and you don't give the proper citation for them, you won't get too much flack, right? I guess that's one of my worries.

And I knew about the Doujin Adiction, but wasn't sure if that weren't a special occassion - that *is* the purpose after all. But I just wanted to check before I did anything, and since I'd been thinking about it lately, I figured I'd go ahead and ask if AbsoluteDestiny was talking about it. ^"^
