This video uses effects in the most creative and effective way. The effects in this video are original, pleasing to watch, well-timed, and adds to the video's overall enjoyability.
If there are videos that you'd like to nominate for this category, you can use their Video ID tags to post links to their A-M-V.org catalog entries, or you can simply post a Youtube or Vimeo Embed of them. Unlike previous years, you're able to nominate videos regardless of whether they have a corresponding catalog entry.

Only Videos that premiered online from 01/01/24 - 12/31/24 are eligible to participate, and all eligible videos posted in this thread will be added to the round 1 voting pool (pending a category review by the moderators). Self promoting is not allowed in this thread and should be restricted to the Shameless Self-Promotion thread.

Note: Each person's Nominations will be limited to 10 videos per category, a maximum of 3 posts per category thread, and can not be retracted. Nominations after your 10th video or 3rd post in a thread will be discarded for that category.

I'm going to die on this hill. I spent the rest of last year after this video came out trying to learn how the effects in it were done. If you don't have an intimate knowledge of what these shots looked like in the original anime it's easy to think the show just looks like that. The compositing is unbelievable, their masks are invisible, and their use of light is astounding. There are shots built entirely from scratch using a collection of assets from throughout the show. The way the editor uses light wraps to bring a mask from shadow into full color before you even visually recognize it's there is genius. I promise you not even the best episodes of One Piece looked this good.

Amazing use of color. I love the retro 90's aesthetic and this does it so consistently. The animation is really well done here too I'm happy to see that manga editing has been getting more consistently good across the board. Still though, manga animation is not easy nor is motion graphics and color theory and should be appreciated. This did a great job sticking to its theme. I'll also admit this was a slow pitch over home base for me personally

I love the design and compositing of this one. It has shots that look like they came straight out of a fashion magazine and that level of motion and graphic design is not easy to replicate.

Phenomenal use of color and light. Also compositing scenes out of thin air together from a variety of anime, in a way that would be invisible if I didn't occasionally recognize pieces of it from other anime I've seen. Easy again to think the original source material just looks like this. Good compositing, like good editing in general, is often invisible when done right.

Easily the best manga animation I've seen all year. perfectly fluid, well composited, and great use of color. Not to mention an absolutely off the walls second half. The skill it takes to animate on this level is admirable
