How to remove AMV?

Post by aniteh » Sat Apr 07, 2007 12:08 pm

How does one remove an AMV from their account? I want to remove my AMV "Bathwater", do some editing, and then reuploaded it, so what do I do?

You can't remove it. The purpose of this site is to catalogue ALL AMVs. That's why you should always make sure that the video you're working on is finished before you upload it.

you can only make a new entry if you are going to make a different version of it...

but what you can do is on the old one change it to say "look i remade this go here to see the newer version" kinda like what i did for this video

It is finished, but 3.19 star rating tells me it's crap, and I need to redo it. But I see your point. *Sigh* I guess I have to keep it there.

Thanks that's what I needed to know. Though it is not going to be much different from the original.

This statement makes me sad. If it's scoring above a 3, clearly people must be generally liking it more than not.

But you see, it's my lowest rated video, even though it's my most recent and I even stated that I worked the hardest on this one. People should go up not down .

Actually site average is around 3.3 or 3.4 last time I looked so 3.19 is slightly below average instead of slightly above average like you'd expect on a 5 point scale.

The part I question is if star ratings are really a decent measure of if a video needs redone or not. First off a lot of people just randomly assign stars because they haven't actually watched the video yet but want to download more. Second off there are many who either automatically mark 3 or give a random score just because they don't want to bother but have to. And finally the most stars on any video this user has is 37. With that few stars the average score will change quite a lot based on just a few stars. Personally I don't even glance at star rating until there's at least 100, and even then they're probably still off from what they'll be after enough stars have been entired to give a true idea of what people think.

So aniteh, don't bother waste your time if you only want to reamke it because of the star rating, that measurement just isn't reliable enough to tell you anything. If you wanna remake it for other reasons then go for it. If you do then make a new video profile and in the old profile just link to the new one like jaddziadax said.

I understood your points as to why I shouldn't rely on the star-rating except for this one:
First off a lot of people just randomly assign stars because they haven't actually watched the video yet but want to download more
Why? Does the bandwidth for uploads increase with every download?
And finally the most stars on any video this user has is 37.
37 stars with 52 downloads, which means I have lazy reviewers. Anyway, I doubt I'll be reaching 100 ratings with a Tenchi/Ayeka video. But I can't rule that out...
Also, this is o/t but I think it is okay to mention it here, on my 'edit videos' page, the number of downloads for my amv "Keep Holding on" is 50, but on the 'bandwidth used' page, its says 52 dl? It's the only amv of mine that the number of downloads doesn't match up. Why?
So aniteh, don't bother waste your time if you only want to reamke it because of the star rating, that measurement just isn't reliable enough to tell you anything. If you wanna remake it for other reasons then go for it.
I'm not only relying on the star rating but on opinions and comments I have received too. And I think I'm capable of making a better version.
