Paypal keeps asking me to 'add a credit card' to complete my

Post by CWR » Tue Mar 27, 2007 10:35 pm

Paypal keeps asking me to 'add a credit card' to complete my donation. So I input my information and it tells me that card is already in my account - no kidding, genius - that's the whole idea behind Paypal, I thought. I'm not about to sign up for a new credit card just so I can make a donation to AMV! I'm probably making some bonehead error, but no other options are given anywhere. I'm using IE6 off W2K pro...I guess I could try using my wife's XP system, but really, what's the deal?

It would probably be best to ask Paypal since it's that site that you're having a problem with.

I wish there was an option presented at the Paypal site to do that, but there isn't - just one of those FAQs that doesn't include whatever it is that your paticular problem happens to be. I did this last year, why is it so impossible this year?

I had been going through the 'click through completely' links from this site, and it never had any sort of 'contact us' option. However, I just now went a different route of going directly to the Paypal site, my account, send money, to amvorg@hotmail.com, $12.00 from my username, confirmed from my creditcard, annnd boom, done. I still have no idea why this worked, but it did. Sorry for the bother, I resolve to return to my normally sunny outlook for the next 10 months until this happens again (my renewal date was in May, but my year was up in March - I guess the years are shorter here) when I will hopefully be able to donate more and not be such a grouch about it...

I used to have to do the exact same thing. It turns out the information for my paypal credit card had changed. Go to your paypal account and check the information. Make sure your 'expiration date' hasn't changed and that the mailing address is still accurate. I was using the same credit card I've used for 3 years with Paypal, but last year they decided to change the expiration date on me. The date didn't change on my card, just in paypal's database. For some reason that made them default to asking for a new card that hadn't expired yet. As soon as you change it back to the correct (unexpired) date and that should fix things.

Minion, you apparently think I lack everything but a brain stem, so I did a screen capture of what it looks like when the link is followed - notice that there is no contact info. I actually have better things to do than to invent problems so that I can gripe about them on a site help forum. Even though I did this almost a week ago it still hasn't been received by AMV...

Donation Man who handles the credit card donations apparently will sometimes forget to check for them. So he said if its been a while and your donation hasn't been recorded to pm him and let him know. (I was actually going to give him a poke tomorrow. I donated a little over a week ago and it hasn't been recorded.)
