WMM FAQ

Post by Autraya » Thu Dec 28, 2006 5:48 pm

Would it be possible to compile a FAQ (and answers of course) for WMM, as the same questions or variations thereof keep poping up in that forum.

things like:

1.) Why does the program keep crashing after I've made only 1 change?
A) WMM starts to have memory conflicts when there are to many transitions/effects (update you virtual mem, RAM, CPU) this can also be caused by using clips with the wrong codecs

2.) My video clip wont import/play?
A) WMM will not accept clips with Xvid blah blah blah codecs.

3.) How do I tell how my clip is encoded?
4.)Where can I get more effects?

Anyway just an idea that could be added as a quick guide or sticky or something. Or should I just start a thread in WMM and start compiling these FAQs?

Some people have made their own wmm guides and post them repeatedly each time those questions come up. Having a sticky in the WMM section that links to all those WMM guides would be a good idea.

Having those guides placed in the actual *guides* section of the website is an even better idea, though. Why aren't they there? We have multiple guides about Adobe programs and not one for the most used program on this site, WMM. :?

1) I only see one guide that's Adobe-specific: the one on After Effects.

2) Presumably because the people who wrote them haven't submitted them to the website, as per the instructions at the top of the guides page. That's not the admins' fault... except when a guide has been submitted and the admins take forever to actually add it. :P

Then in the absence of a guide on how to use the program (because thats not what I was planning on making)
Maybe I'll just start a thread (after trawling through the forum for what to include, using a spell checker too) and ask for it to be stickefied.
I was looking at just putting together some FAQ's and maybe some do/dont's.
so That scintilla doesn't have to keep repeating the same "how are the clips encoded" question.
Let me know if the consensus is that this is the way to move forward and I'll start right away.

Okay nevermind The FAQ is done now anyway.

However it brings me to this:

This would be my new suggestion.

Well his suggestion that I stole, but eh.
