Pokemon, and other "kids" anime

Post by pinky75910 » Thu Nov 09, 2006 4:51 am

May I suggest a Recommended Thread for Pokemon? I think it's responsible for many of us joining anime for the first time, but it's hard to find any "serious" amvs - 'cept as part of a larger work, usually as a joke.

I'm also a big fan of Shaman King. If not a Pokemon thread, Maybe a Thread for "kids" anime already released on network television? Again, likely responisble for many of us learning about anime. This would incorporate a lot of the lesser known animes I think. Any thoughts?
Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

Gepetto gives it two thumbs up, too.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

Pokemon isn't really "kiddie" anime like Hamtaro...at least not in Japanese.

But yeah...this topic sounds like a good idea...except that there are only a handful of Pokemon vids...and even less that are actually any good.

"Family friendly" is extremely difficult to define, as it's entirely subjective.

Also, I don't think a Pokemon thread would do any better than the Digimon thread fared, so no.

I agree, there isn't enough of them.

I made a thread awhile ago, for a lip synching thread. No mod/admin ever replied to it. I think that would make a good thread.

Since none of these anime have enough vids to make a single thread, a collective thread sounds like a good idea. And tossing them under a 'kiddie anime' title doesn't have to be vague. Just have the mod give clear examples of the anime to be listed in that thread. You could even take the Digimon thread and convert it to a 'kiddie anime' thread.

The main thing is to list the anime in the thread description. We're not talking about 'family friendly' anime vids or you'd be getting people recommending everything SailorMoon (which has it's own thread) and very little of the unknown kiddie anime vids.

Anime to be listed in the thread could include:

Pokemon
Tokyo Mew Mew (Mew Mew Power)
Digimon (has a thread)
Shaman King
Yugioh (has a thread)

And anything else that gets played (and ruined) by Fox, Kids Network, and everything non-Toonami/CN. It's not vague at all. There aren't that many 'kiddie' anime that don't already have threads. And this is the only way to get a recommendation thread for these anime - by combining them under their common theme.

I think the various drama threads are vague and lead to crossposting since just about any vid could apply to any of them. A 'kiddie anime' thread is specific compared to those.

The only question is whether there are enough (combined) fans of these type of anime to make the thread worthwhile.

I agree, you could always list the anime titles allowed in the thread...

I like this idea. You don't have to make some grand moral definition of family friendly to have a kiddie recommennd thread...just group the series geared toward kids on CN and such.

I just don't like lumping like that. Kenshin, DBZ, Outlaw Star and such were all on CN aimed at kids, would you consider them "kiddie anime"?
