Offensive Comment Reporting?

Post by AnnaMayBelle » Thu Aug 10, 2006 8:28 pm

Is there any way to report offensive quick-comments? I'm aware that they're displayed anonymously, but is there any way for the administrator to trace them? I'm not talking about "someone didn't like my video", I'm talking about actual vulgar, offensive quick-comments of a sexual nature.

Grow a backbone and learn to deal?

Honestly, no. They're annoynomus for a reason. Take the good with the bad. Also, welcome to the internet - people are often not nice in the real world, but we have that thing beat.

I don't think the reason the org, made them annoynomous was so that cowardly little perverts could annonimously say anything they want to a woman they wouldn't have the guts to approach in the real world,

Laugh at them and post them so everyone can laugh.

maybe there should at least be an option to remove comments from the list.

I'd like an answer to this question, too.

The site keeps track of who leaves stars on each video. It should know who left which comment. So it should be possible to do a check on a member and see if he's using the QC system as a way to harrass members. If he is, he needs banned.

.

No part of this site should be used for harrassment. If it's one person and there's clear evidence (and a way for the site to track him), then he should be reported. I'm all for telling people to grow a backbone and ignore the occassional flames we get in the annonymous QCs. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't bother reporting severe cases of targetted nastiness. Anyone abusing the QCs that way doesn't need to be here.

Really. When the same guy comes into your restaurant every day to grope your waitress do you tell her to shut up and enjoy it because this is the world and guys will be guys? If so, I hope you live in the US so she can sue your ass off. :?

I like how you say "guy" like a man has to be the only culprit.

All I know is some person I know got their QC feature disabled, meaning they can only give a star, not comment, maybe they should just do that.

But still, an anonymous quick comment that means nothing and physical grouping cannot be put in the same category. >_>

about the flamingness of the quick comments ill admit i left some nasty ones before but mine were mostly constructive ones mainly with those who used downloaded footage to try and get them to use dvd footage. if i really felt that the vid uber sucked then i would explain why it sucked the way it was. about the sexual vulgarness of qc id do what Cornwiggle said. i find the sexual quick comments to be the most funny ones.

Point. :P I guess it could be a lesbian targetting Anna with sexual comments. Somehow I just doubt it. Maybe because the majority of the site is male and the few open lesbian members come off as far less vulgar than that.

Point x2. However, physical groping and verbal sexual harrassment both are stomped out when they're reported in the US - because it's wrong, offensive, and illegal. The complaint and the immediate response from the male members of the forum just reminded me of the waitress senario - he pinches her when no one's looking and when she complains, her resoundingly male coworkers tell her to turn the other cheek. Sure, pathetic people are funny, but when they're stalking you without any fear of being stopped (or even slapped on the wrist), the situation loses some of its humor.

Besides, it's the principle of the matter. She doesn't want to be harrassed. The site has rules against harrasment. She complained to the site. I want to know if they're going to allow the harrassment to continue without even investigating. If it's something they just can't track, I want to know. Forewarned is forearmed. And that way the next time someone complains we can say "sorry, we can't track that so you'll have to either learn to like it or stop reading QCs until the pervert forgets about you."

Keep in mind it's not flaming she complained about. It's "offensive quick-comments of a sexual nature." That's harrassment. Completely different ballgame from flamers.

I understand your second point, but the other point is that comment could just be there TO annoy and not be serious. You don't think girls do that too, try to piss someone off with vulgar comments, straight or not?
