Being able to check your pms through member main page.

Post by x_rex30 » Sun Apr 10, 2005 5:33 pm

Since a lot of people don't use the forums, is there a way to have it so you could check pms in your main member page or something?  :?:

Why? If people don't use the forums, perhaps they don't want to recieve PMs?

I never used the forums until late 2003. Some people don't even know what the hell a forum is. My brother used forums all the time, and also is the one who got me into them(I'm glade too, though he doesn't use them that much anymore). I don't get the logic in that. People list there Emails because they wanna, or don't mind being contacted, so why not at least have a pm feature for members, and it would also insure more privacy without having to list your email.

I think it'd be nice to be able to have it show up on the main page, because there are some creators who dont list their email, and never use the forums, but have some video's i'd like to get from them. If they have interest in sharing them, or are unable to due to content, we could still ask them about it, and if they choose, could reply, without it cluttering up their email. They don't have to respond, it's just something that lets them know they have a PM.

It's been a while since i signed up for the forums and i have a bad memory, but isn't site registration and forum resistration seperate? Aren't the systems seperate?

again, not sure about this, but it would make things difficult to impliment...

I don't see the need for a "send a PM" link on the member main page.

I *do* see use in having a "You Got Mail!" message on the member page - either a pop-up (like the forum), or a section at the bottom (like with ops and download errors). That way, us forum-goers can communicate with those 'non-forum-goers' without resorting to email.

If they went ahead and added a "PM the member" link to reviews (as was suggested not long ago), having a message pop up on the member main page would be absolutely excellent. It would be a great way to communicate with those members who avoid the forum - and you don't have to leave the forum (emails) to contact them.

Did somebody already make a PMS joke? Yes? Good.
