Too many stickys

I was just browsing the Site Help forum, and i see 8 freaking stickies. How about consolidating all of the relevant information into about 4 new threads? Or heck, maybe even one thread :O

All the 'downloading/uploading help' threads would fit nicely as one (or just a link to Moonslayer's guide, since it covers about everything in those threads).

But...having so many stickies means people have to scroll down a ways before they can post a new thread. There's always the chance that they'll actually read one of those sticky titles and click the thread instead of making a new one on the same subject. With only one or two threads, it's much easier for them to pretend they didn't see it. They wouldn't even have to scroll.

Me, I'd support having the first page be *all* stickies - so they have to glance over them before going to page 2 and posting a repeat thread. But that would be like having the FAQ as mandatory reading. It probably wouldn't make a difference so it's not worth trying.

Thats a double-edged sword. When people see a lot of stickes they are very likely to not bother reading them all, or just skim them quickly and not see what they are looking for. It's a lot easier to read 1 or 2 lines than to read 10 or 20 lines.

But on that note, would it be possible to change the color of the table background behind the sticky posts? It would make them stand out a lot better, and it would also let people who have already seen them easily see where the actual posts start at.

That's probably possible... Patches welcome, pretty much against stock phpBB.
