Post by Jebadia » Thu Jan 15, 2004 8:07 pm

I get:
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database
...when ever I click it. Of course I can just hit the back button, and problem solved, but still....

I've gotten that error about 3 times tonight, I think it's an off-and-on bug. :?

I think that's unlikely -- if he messed up the connection code, you'd get a phpbb error box (i.e. something much nicer-looking) or a PHP message. You usually don't get critical errors until the database itself goes down.

According to conversations with AD, it's because some server downtime is needed in order to sort out VA stats, or something like that.

Hey,

Sorry about that. I was testing the VCA entries and disqualifications script and it took more resources than it should have. The error was not a forum code error, just that I had used up all the available database connections. The error should not occur again.

Yep, I caught it, too. But I haven't had one last for more than 5mins - if you're on the main page it tells you to watch your favorite amv and try again when it's finished - so far that's worked just fine. ^.~

ERROR: Database Connection Failure
Holy @#$%$#!! The connection to the database has been lost!! Since 95% of the site is database driven, this is a big problem.

Rest assured, Phade is painfully aware of the situation and is working very hard to fix it. The database (and the rest of the site) should return very soon. In the mean time, watch some of your favorate videos and hopefully when you're done, the problem will be fixed. =D
