Announcements Suggestion
I've been thinking, why not add a subforum (or something of the like) within AMV Announcements for people to post their first videos? It'd be helpful because it'd give new members a place to introduce both themselves and their work, and it'd probably subconsiously attract more people to watching and helping newer creators make better videos. Plus it'd just make that section a bit more organized.
Thoughts?

um, my first reaction to this was..why do we need two AMV Announcements forums?
after reading it a few times to make sure i didnt mess anything up, i still dont see the need for two Announcement forums. im sure that noobs can make a "here i am" post here and it not get modded. unless they dont have an AMV to psot as well, only, then, they are not truly noobs, just visitors to the site.
i think we all need to rethink our idea of just WHAT a noob is. to me, its a person that at least has ONE amv listed. people with no AMVs listed are just visitors, not creators.

But that's what I'm saying, a place for people who've just made their FIRST video to post it. Granted, its not neccessary, I just think it'd help by giving those who are out there to help n00bs a clear target while giving the elitists a section to avoid and fewer vids they might not like in the announcements section. I don't want it to be a place for anybody to just say "hi", I want it to be a place for people to actually post their first videos once completed.

I loved it the idea!
Gonna be cool a forum like "Quick reviews for Newbie(or Begginer) AMV creators"
The difference between the "New vids annoucements" forums it's guaranteed replyes about the vids posted in there , but the creator gonna have to be all ears for bad or good comments about their vids.

Hm...half and half on this one.
Bad side:
It separates the beginners from the rest, makes them post their announcements all by their lonesome where everyone else can easily avoid them without giving them a chance. And by separating them, it puts more weight on the noob versus elite classes, noobs not even good enough to announce their first vids with everyone else. It also gives people an easy target for those who like to trash vid creators for putting bad vids on the org, they can just nab a 'beginning' video, with them all clustered together for the flaming needs.
Good side:
If the elite know the vids in that section are 'noob first vids' then they can avoid them rather than complaining at the lack of charm or editing expertise in the beginning vids. It puts beginning editors on the same stance with all other videos being announced at that time, so they won't have to be named right after a great vid (by someone who's been making them for years). It puts less pressure on the beginniers, gives them a place where helpful people can find them better, and lets them compare their starting point to other vids at the same experience level. At the same time, they can compare other beginning vids with the non-beginning vids in the main section and see that most people start at the same place before moving up to that more experienced level of editing (they'll also see some 'experienced' vids that are nearly as bad as beginning vids, which is always good on the ego.)
The dilema:
Are there still people who target beginning vids (to be helpful), or will putting them in their own section just guarantee that no one will accidentally download them, meaning they'll get no response at all?
I'm torn.

I don't feel there is enough traffic currently in AMV announcements to warrant splitting it into to seperate entities. While the idea is sound in theory, in practice I don't see it working all that well.
Certainly there are a lot of helpful people that belong to this community that enjoy downloading and critiquing 1st time AMV creator's works. However, placing first time AMV announcements in their own section of the forum would essentially isolate these creators and would probably cause more harm than good as casual downloaders will be less likely to browse for these videos if listed seperately from other AMV announcements.

i think its a great idea, keeps the flamming low on the noobs. But ariga's is saying that it wont give noobs a chance, but its totally their choice to post the videos up with the elites, or start with the noobs. They will also be recognized, cause i know i look at noob videos, and I believe you do also Ariga, and also dethmajor so it wouldnt be all that bad.

A agree , nobody said that has to be a rule , 1st newbies/begginers vids be announced just in the new annoucement forum as i said in my first post , I like the idea for a place to newbies/begginers ask for quick comments in their vids , don't even has to be exactly when they release their vids , just a place to receive quick reviews certainly , ok i know we have the opinions exchange forums , but a lot of newbies/begginers don't go to trade ops because sometimes they can't give an op in return ,with probs with time , low speed connection ,etc .LightningCountX wrote:i think its a great idea, keeps the flamming low on the noobs.
