Post by wolf_hunter » Fri Nov 28, 2003 2:39 pm

so many newbs go directly to the general amv section without looking around for tuts and since theres so many of them it killz whatever any of us are trying to talk about >_>

suggestion? make a general amv help forum (mainly for amvs) but anything in particular like uploading and watever comes across them

theres a site help, which is all good but its like...PLS!!! put in an amv help forum

Or (as others have recommended), a sticky with upload/download instructions. Moonslayer did make one of those, last I heard. :?

yeah but if there was another section we wouldnt have like 10 sticky threads covering the entire view of the forum so you have to scroll to find recent threads

Heh, not like they read the stickies anyway, right?

But still, another forum - I don't see it happening. At best, they might shift the help section to the top (as some of have suggested) so when people post in the first general section they come to it'll accidentally be in the right place. :?

doesnt hurt to complain :P

but yes yes to both, and if the moving to the top does happen...the topic discription should also include AMV's instead of just site

:wink:

Heh, how about an agreement the new members have to read before they enter the forum, just a basic one telling what each section is for and giving the rules. If it were multi-paged they would be more likely to actually read it instead of blindly checking the 'okay' button and skipping it. Who knows, you could even toss in a quick little 'quiz' to see if they read it. One asking T/F questions like "It's against the rules to post links to downloaded anime footage" would be pretty darn easy to answer if they read the intro.

Yeah, just another messy addition, but hey...it could work. ^_^;;

how about the first 5 times you hit the post new topic button, it directs you to a page that asks to select what kind of topic you are making (general amv, anime, software help, etc...) and then directs you to the appropriate forum?

if they are out for a rant, it should direct them to a message telling them to try clearing their heads for 5 minutes
