This section wont be an announcement forum and the threads will have a time limit on them. If someone wants to link to their youtube or deviantart account, I really dont see the problem. The idea is that people will introduce themselves and then stick around. Keep in mind, we have an announcement forum for announcing videos. So if we see someone using the intro thread to announce videos, we can just lock it and direct them to the proper forum. If anything, I'd expect people to check out those youtube account and post on the forums stuff like "Hey, could you upload that one video to this site?"-Reda- wrote: 3) We already get enough people who don't read the rules posting "Hey guise I maek AMVs heers my utube channel k? ^_^~~~~~". Do you really want to make a forum section that pretty much begs for shit posts like that?
I think it's broken in that we have people say that this site is too cliquey or there's a bunch of inside jokes that no one understands. This could be a nice social introduction for new people.-Reda- wrote: 1) Don't fix what isn't broken. To my knowledge, in the few years I've been here, the lack of an introductions board hasn't caused any major problems. It also forced users to get their names out there the good ol' fashioned way: by making good AMVs.
As for getting their name out by making good AMVs, what about people who are already established AMV makers and edit well? It's often that they'll get overlooked in the announcements because people dont know their name. Then, they'll just go back to their YT accounts because they feel like they have more of an audience there.
This idea was discussed the IRC before I made the forum post. It's where we came up with the idea.-Reda- wrote: Edit: Sure is Groupthink in here...
