I hate to say it, but the assumptions that people are making are rather ludicrous, to say the least; be proud that the art was used, that it is my art, and that I should accept the fact that it is being used. In the quickness to insult me, people have ignored some basic facts, including the fact that the art in question does not use the anime style. It is the artist's own personal style (and I AM NOT the artist), and, despite doing what is considered a fan work, the artist does have rights as to what they have produced and their style. Those who are quick to make excuses, I worry that they might use their self-made excuses in the future to support actions of their own in a similar vein to Mike of the Desert. As for Links, I will gladly post them.

So you see, it isn't just ripping a single piece of art; it is rather systematic.

i think this is getting out of hand - i don't know what possessed you to attack specifically this user for his banner art - your reasons seem so fueled by morality it borders on ridiculous when you consider the content of this site. Two seconds of browsing on the original artists website i found this in a FAQ.
so really what the fuck is your deal? why not just ask the banner maker to credit it?

Riiiiight. When Matt Groening's lawyers come knocking on my door because I started selling a Simpsons cartoon, taking the existing characters and universe created by Matt Groening, just creating my own plots and drawing it in my own style, I'll be sure to point them to your fool-proof argument on the ways of copyright. Your argument is almost as retarded as this.tirachan wrote:In the quickness to insult me, people have ignored some basic facts, including the fact that the art in question does not use the anime style. <.< you twit, I've seen people on youtube make a sort of video comic out of this and actually "STOLEN" in both ways the credit and the picture. Why don't you go to them and the 100 other sites who stole Yaoi images of TMNT. If your gonna resort to this everytime an art is a banner, then I want you to fend off the hundred other sites like youtube who steal. : /tirachan wrote:I hate to say it, but the assumptions that people are making are rather ludicrous, to say the least; be proud that the art was used, that it is my art, and that I should accept the fact that it is being used. Good thing i kept this saved for this occasion cause i found someone on Deviant Art who Stole MY little art piece for the begining of my old amv, "Shinigami Rock"
http://k-shogun.deviantart.com/art/Blea ... o-35741478
(Actually it was made by an old friend of mine, Nandez)
The info before claimed it to be his until Nandez took charge, so as you can see here, there is a good percentage of thieves on your end...But yet your only quick to jump at others -_-. I'll leave it at that for now since I really don't want your brain to piss itself, you having intelligence and all.

Apparently my post was way too long for people to feel like reading.
That's about the equivelent of someone with a used car lot stealing your car and putting it on their lot. Then someone who may or may not know the legitimacy of the lot comes along and buys it. Then they later end up selling it to someone who thinks they are taking part in a legitimate deal and that they are buying the car fair and square. Then you see the person in your car, just assume that they're the one who stole the car and that they knew all along it was yours, so you (and maybe some of your friends) drag them out of the car and beat them with a baseball bat screaming that they're a thief, when they had no clue. Or maybe they did. Either way, it would have been better to either alert the police, or if they seem like a nice person, maybe pull them aside, let them know, show them the police report, etc, and they might be willing to just give the car back.
The point is, its the internet. Stuff tends to wander. So even if you get art from sites that's usually ok with you using it, there's always a chance it came from somewhere that doesn't want it used. (Like deviantart) So I'm not saying 'Deal with it', I'm saying 'Chill'.

Now see, as I said in my long ass post, I don't think the problem is really the artist not wanting their work used, its how you guys go about asking it to be removed. Like you just assume that the person purposely took your work without asking, tried to take credit and profit from it, and so you all jump around going 'Thief! They stole my stuff! Punish them! Take it back!' like you just assume they did it knowingly and on purpose.tirachan wrote:So you see, it isn't just ripping a single piece of art; it is rather systematic.

Exactly. I found myself in the same situation once. Though, I had gotten it from somewhere else, since I prefer not to use deviantart art for this very reason. But I still found my self buried in nasty pm's from the artist's friends, attacking me, calling me a dirty thief, etc, since apparently the art originated from there. But I finally talked to the artist herself, and she let me keep the banner if I credit her on my page. Done. End of story. So not the drama everyone else was making it out to be. If the artist still wants it gone, so be it. But the hissy fit and drama really aren't necessary.Purge wrote:i think this is getting out of hand - i don't know what possessed you to attack specifically this user for his banner art - your reasons seem so fueled by morality it borders on ridiculous when you consider the content of this site.
