*Sigh*
I'll bite

If you've looked at my profile, you'll see that I actually DID remake my first video, although to be fair the only thing I changed was I letterboxed out the subtitles and used AviSynth (a tool I didn't know about when I made my first AMV) to clean up the quality a little.
I don't know what you mean when you say I felt like a douchebag when I got low ratings for my first AMV, because I really didn't. I saw the scores, I got no constructive help aside from a QC that basically said "subtitles are bad". I knew it was nothing amazing, I sucked it up and made my next video. Between my first and second videos I did a LOT of research by reading the guides, getting active in the community, etc. to help myself understand exactly how AMV editing is done by the pros.
I wanted my next video to look good, because that's what
I wanted. I like to think I've always made videos because they're things that I haven't seen done. Or, because it's just an idea that I like. If no one else likes it, fuck 'em. If I'm enjoying myself while I'm editing, if I'm editing an idea that I think is really cool, that's all that matters to me.
I understand that as someone that's new to editing, your first few videos will probably be made because you want other people to see them. I was like that too for my first couple, I can admit it. All I'm trying to do is to get you to realize that the most important aspect of making an AMV is enjoying yourself while you do it. If you realize that earlier in your editing "career" as it were, you'll end up having a LOT more fun as time goes by and you make more videos.
All I'm saying is that maybe you shouldn't be investing your time into remaking an old AMV because other people don't like them; you should be taking the criticism that you've received from that video and apply it to future videos instead. Don't get hung up on a 3.1something star rating - it happens, and if you dwell on it you won't improve.
And godix is right - star ratings are a poor representation of how "good" your video is. Participate in op exchanges if you want real constructive critcism.
As for this...

I really don't. Or maybe my standards are just really high, but my star ratings average in the 3.5 zone. That's just about average to me.
