Well, I don't think there should be restrictions, just a recommended age.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

yea, no restriction, just a warning so you know your downloading something with adult content. then you can choose to continue to the direct or indirect link, or not to.

There are plenty of videos that are tame enough to be on the org but still aren't appropriate for an 8 year old. I'm not just talking fanservice videos either, how many parents do you think want their child watching some of the dark realistic treatments of war that Grave of the Fireflies has spawned? If you're going to kid proof the video listings then I suggest a 'mature viewer' tag and super search having a checkbox for if those videos should be returned or not. Of course it should default to not.
I like this idea, combined with what Arigatomyna said. The option to include "mature" videos in the search could be located under your profile. Though I think godix is a little overboard with GOTF and simple fanservice  Just a simple item in the video entry dialogues that asks if the video contains any of the things that would disqualify it for local hosting. If they check yes, it could also not list the video on the upload page at all.

Why not, it's like any other porn site.

*raises a hand*

Before I should have, technically. By a couple days.

Anyway, it amuses me that a hentai category suggestion has evolved into a full-fledged age category rating system inside thirty posts.

I haven't, and don't plan to. I've seen one video that involved hentai scenes, and that was only because the creator pm'd me specifically asking me to look it over. I prefer to avoid hentai amvs for the most part, they just don't interest me. So a filter to 'block' them out would be convenient during searches - not because I'm too young to watch them (24), but because I'm just not interested. You can do a -romance in searches (or so I've heard), so being able to do a -hentai would be convenient. A hentai category would allow this. But a block would be better since it wouldn't let people *search* for vids in the hentai category (and if people can come here and search for hentai vids, it gets close to that 'porn site' issue they were trying to avoid).

Actually I was being slightly sarcastic, I personally don't think the ability to block hentai is worth doing. However if the org is going to bother doing it in the name of hypothetical 8 year olds everywhere then it should be done right and be able to block all inappropriate material regardless of why it's inappropriate. Making a hentai catagory and the ability to block it is just a half assed measure.

Incidently, *raises hand*. I think it's somewhat relevent to point out that when I knew what it was when I downloaded it, I didn't just stumble into it on accident.

Personally, I think if this category does get implemented, why should anything be implemented to block it? They're not hosted on the server, and nothing else is blocked, right? (Or even being able to choose to block something.)

I think the general idea was to have another category you could search by, not to be able to block or not block specific categories.

On the plus side, having a "hentai" category would help those who don't wish to view it. You wouldn't even need to implement any sort of blocking feature, you just don't download it.
Another pointless post!
