To bad there is not a section or seperate but affiliated web site to upload non anime. I was thinking of making a video using clips from the Ewok (those little teddy bear like creatures from star wars) Movies and using the Elvis song "Teddy Bear" Oh well I might do it for my own enjoyment.

Sorry. Normally I wouldn't touch a topic like this, but I've had a thought itching at me for a while.

Is it really so bad that people want to upload videos other than anime? As long as they still didn't have excessive violence or sexual nudity, I've always thought that any video should be uploaded. I mean, besides the utterly obvious retort of "duh, the site is called ANIME Music Videos.org," I couldn't find a reason against it.

It's probably just wishful thinking, but I agree with DarkConjurerOfDonuts when he/she said that it'd be nice if there was a website that'd allow videos other than anime. That way this one wouldn't have to be 'contaminated' non-anime videos. They'd have a home of their own. I wonder if someone would take up a site project like that?

Don't get me wrong...even if I don't get to see videos to some of my favorite games (just because they aren't considered anime), I still adore this site. It eats up my free time and hard drive space and I enjoy every minute of it. Still...it's kind of frustrating.

I know it's not my place to poke my head in this matter, but, like I said, the thought has been itching to be spoken for some time now.

Just a few questions: besides the obvious site name, is there any other reason why this site is against uploading other videos? Is it a cost/bandwidth issue? Is a different technical reason entirely? I don't know much about computers, so I'm just curious.

Please don't take this as a complaint or a flame, because that's not what I'm intending at all. I just wanted to voice my thoughts, that's all.

A few good reasons:

1) Cost. I don't make non-anime vids, so I don't want to download to help host non-anime vids. I can bet most donators don't either. And since most people here make anime vids, I don't think there are enough donators to willingly pay for non-anime vid hosting service.

2) Liability. Japanese anime footage is 'less dangerous' than using US footage. Think copyright laws. It's all bad, but using a widely known source like Lotr will get a lot more negative attention than using anime.

3) Anti-snowballing. If it got out that we accepted non-anime here, we'd find ourselves swamped with them. Even if there were a few rich members willing to donate for non-anime space, they'd crumble under a rush of people wanting to use a free host.

None of that counts the reasons you've already mentioned - Phade's site, his rules, his focus = anime.

Thanks, arigatomina. I sort of figured some of the reasons you said, but it's nice hearing from someone else, so I'm not doing you-know-what by assuming. ^_^

(Psst...BTW, I like your avatar/icon. The eyes are freaky. It reminds me of Tsuzuki from Yami no Matsuei. What's it from?)

Usually when this topic comes up, a few people jump in with the old "don't like it go make your own site" and that's the end of that. But there are a lot of reasons I can think of that make it good to keep this an anime-only site.

It's Yukimura from Samurai Deeper Kyo. ^.~ Usually I go with one that matches my banner, but that scene caught my eye in my last vid. He's really dangerous in that scene, freaky fits nicely.

Just a random idea... Could it be possible to have a running tally of the number of vids destroyed by the new script and or legit video scouts? I think displaying a big number on the main page will get the message across quite nicely, don't you?
