Cailet730 recently brought this one up

Cailet730's original vid: Jamming with Edward

Rip off vid: jamming with edd

It is like someone put Cailet's vid on the timeline and then they put scenes over it in certain parts to make it 'better' in their own vision.

Basically: Same song, same anime, and a lot of the same clip selection.

You'd think with local links you'd be able to exercise some sort of control against this sort of thing. But yeah, I'd heard of a few cases of this before. I just never heard if the problems were resolved.

I guess I'll just leave her a review and ask for credit for the source footage and the order of the scenes. Scary. It'll be like reviewing my own vid. :( Except without lyric sync.

Maybe, but I really wanted to know how the site handles this sort of thing. ^.~

Just think, a person could take every vid on the top 10# list, switch three clips in each, set them to a different (or even the same) song, and put it up on local for download under his name without anything happening. At the same time, a person who puts up two versions of the same vid in his own profile gets one of them deleted from the local server for being a duplicate entry.

Scary. :?

I just don't see why action can't be taken if its so obviously a cheap 5 minute rip-off.

I think I got attribution in the Various tag, but I'm not sure.
Well, until it was changed to "Various" in the recent animé-title-correcting binge, you were referred to as "some other stuff..." :)

Well, I figure you can delete a vid because it has questionable content (violence/nudity) - that isn't a clear cut rule any more than the 'no plaigerism' rule is. But mods make the decision on whether it goes too far or not all the time. I just hate the thought that people donate so others can host their stollen vids on the local server.

If it were hosted on another public website it would be different. You can write to the owner (the service provider) about the theft and get the site shut down if they don't remove it. But since this is a private site, hosting already stollen footage, I can see where the twice removed theft would be an issue.

I don't care that she used the poorly ripped footage. I don't like that she kept the order of the scenes. Forget transitions or any simple change to the footage - the order came from me looking over 112 episodes to find the scenes I thought worked best together to make a story. She took that story (though it doesn't make sense with the song she used).

But forget it. I just wanted to know how the site handles this sort of reproduction on the local server. I'm just mad because of what she wrote in the vid description - made me want to *do* something. So asking at least let me blow off a little steam. ^_^;;

I would take it as a compliment if someone ripped off one of my videos. I mean of all videos out there if they choose mine that's got to mean something right? :P

You know, that's what I always thought when people plaigerised my fics. But this is just rude. According to her vid description she made the amv because the ones for this genre didn't use enough good scenes. Then she makes the vid and every scene she uses comes from one of my vids, just like they appeared in my vid. It's annoying and insulting since, until she ripped it, I was the only one with that sort of amv (using that footage) - she might as well have given me credit and said 'but look how good it is when *I* use her footage set to *my* song.' Definitely irritating. >.<
