I was uploading My AMV and i canceld it since i noticed it was 105mb so requsted large file size and it took me to a page with no instructions but highlighted in yellow it said error file not uploaded so i went back and uploaded it i clicked refresh to see if i could find out what was going on and it still said error no upload

did i do somthing wrong should i just cancel the amv??? and start over

I have a better solution: compress better. Read this. There's very little good reason to use an oversize upload aside from MEPs.

If you've already compressed your video, make sure to check if you've compressed your audio (it can make a big difference). Also, some post-processing with AviSynth can clean a video enough to make it compress better (and improve visual quality too).

I know but every time i try to get real technical witht the compreshion the file fails and i have to restart
grrrr

anyway the audio is mp3 and the video is dvix4
FYI the amv is almost 7 min long so i think it is justfyably large for the quality it is

Not really, no. 11 or 12 minutes would be justifiable. You need to try an XviD encode (some recent build of it).

How's it look? is the end product clean? if not, that may be the problem. All those things you don't actually want (bluriness, pixelization, etc) will take up more space than a clean video with the same specs.

What's the size of the video? Dimentions often matter especially with certain methods of compression.

it is 720X480 and the fottage is crystal clear
it is just every time i use xvid it looks like crap or it is 168mb it has soooo many options to set and when i get into setting them the dang thig will crash?

for better filesizes...try a smaller resolution
352x240 can seem a bit small, but it should make your compression smaller

try using the settings for a 2-pass xvid encode in virtualdub(/mod) as specified in EADFAG...and don't forget to post-process your work (crop the black edges off of the video, use a smoother, etc) if you haven't already
