Not a remaster, not a remake...

Post by Arcane Azmadi » Tue Aug 31, 2004 7:58 pm

Recently Dizzy Samurai made some modifications to one of our AMVs, The Face Inside Of Me Is..., to prepare it for entry in a comp. Using the same video and audio source we tweaked some of the timing, polished the lip-synch and added some titles. Since this version is obviously better than the original it's the one we'd prefer to have on Amvorg. However, reading the FAQ, what we did didn't seem like a remaster, but it definitely wasn't a remake. I'm assuming we should TREAT it as a remaster, but I'm exactly sure.

Furthermore, if we do treat it as a remaster, exactly who do we submit the File Delete Request to; the FAQ didn't make this entirely clear (or maybe I just overlooked it).

As an aside, the Animania 2003 convention AMV competion we entered one of videos in last year isn't listed in the 'Competition Entries' section of the AMV entry system. I know it's in Australia, but can we PLEASE have some recognition, at least for Animania 2004?

It's my understanding that any change other than the quality of the audio and/or video qualifies as a remake.

I believe the org views any change other than quality issues to be a remake. If you find out that minor timing corrections are actually a remaster let me know, I got a duplicate entry in my profile because of this that I'd love to get rid of.

Maybe you already know all this but I can answer your questions. If your gonna treat your video as a remaster, then go to Edit My Videos and select the link called "Request Deletion Of Bad Video Entry" at the top of the page. From this page it will give you instructions on how to request upload of a remaster.

Also, about your credit for the contest and all. You can add the contest yourself to the list. By going to AMV Contest List and selecting "Add A New Contest" at the bottom of the page. Enter all the information and stuff then you should be able to select that competition from the list when editing your video.

I hope I was helpfull and got your problem solved. If you already solved the problem then, uh, well, I dunno, just forget it. Heh, but if I did help out, yaay!
