Stars?
when viewing my videos under the "Edit Video" selection after logging into the main site i notice that it gives me a "number of stars" and "star average" in the box with my AMV. what do the stars mean?
Maybe I should put something in htis little box.

These scores go toward a list that is kept - on the right side of the member main page you'll see a link for the 'top star list' - that ranks the videos on the local server according to the star rating. The listing is broken into weeks, or you can look at the all time star scale (the most recent and complete list). Vids have to get 5 stars (scores) before they are placed on the list.
And when you download a local video, you will see a link to that vid on the main page asking you to give it a rating - you can download 10 vids before you *have* to give a rating. Otherwise, you'll be asked to rate the vids before you can download another locally hosted video. ^.~
[PS: The rating goes from 1 (lowest) to 5 (best) - just to be thorough.]

One thing the others didn't mention, don't take the star ratings all that seriously. They're great for getting a rough idea of how well liked your video is but there are quite a few who give every video they see a 2 or 3 just because they're forced to give some rating to continue downloading. It's fairly common for a video to rank very high the first couple dozen stars since people who liked it tend to rate quickly but then drop as people run into that 10 download limit. For the perfect example of this, right now 4 of the top 10 star rated videos have less than two dozen stars and I doubt any of the four will be in the top ten next week (including, sadly enough, my own). Don't bother paying attention to what exactly the rating is or where exactly you rank, you'll just slowly drive yourself crazy. I don't trust them beyond telling me if my video is above average (median is roughly 3.3) or how my videos rate in comparison to each other.

But after say...a 150 stars you can get a good idea of the viewers' take on it. The more stars you get, the more weight you can put on the scores (in terms of 'did they like it' or not).
Just be aware - just because a vid gets low stars doesn't mean it isn't good - just that it isn't what the average person likes. And there's nothing wrong with that.
[Also...this should have gone in the 'Site Help' section - that's usually the best place to ask questions that don't concern audio/video problems. ^.~ ]
