AIM Chat Room Pwn3d: IRC adopted!

I'm sad to say that after numerous continuing complaints about behaviour in the AIM chat room, the link has been removed from the site.

Due to the nature of AIM chat rooms, it will sitll be there to anyone who finds it but it is no longer associated with the site.

But fear not, alternatives (with moderator possibilities) are being looked into. If anyone has any suggestions to good alternatives, please make any such recomendations in the Site Suggestions forum.

(P.S. - Take on me!)

EDIT: We have a new IRC channel up and running:

For a list of zirc servers go here or alternatively if you want to use a web-based irc client use zirc's own client here.

Further intergration into the org will happen later once things are settled down.

So, you're saying that only an exclusive few who know about the chat room will now enter it, and we can dictate who knows about it and who doesn't? Does that make us older vets in the chat room .... l33t?

no chat mediums come to mind unless you would like to install some java IRC client

I wouldnt mind helping out with that . besides the links are banned from the chat rooms anyway on the aim side , so any video pimping is gone.

Look at the Chat topic in Site Suggestions. I, as well as Janzki and a few others, plan on starting an Org IRC chat. I just need to have my brain refreshed on what stuff does, since I haven't been on IRC since the dialup days.

After I'm done running errands, I'm gonna check into some servers and see if I can get a channel for us.

umm, we already had like two chats on IRC, and neither of them lasted more than a week or two. Also, I love the behavior in the aim chat =D

Everyone will be begging for ops and abusing them on irc. However I think the java irc client may be the best option.

I knew this day was comming. Anywho, if an IRC chat is gonna be tried again, much like what Castor said is what happened to the last 2 tries at IRC.
