We'd have to set up the irc server ourselves and have it refer to the sql database of usernames.
1) That's complicated
2) The web hosts doesn't allow IRC servers to be set up on this box.
Makes things kinda tricky like that.
In any case, I'm happy - this is much more trackable than the AIM chat was and the ops can deal with any really evil trolls, it doesn't matter who they are - it's just that if we know then they can be punished here too.

I for one am glad that we are losing the aim chat, but then again it is kinda sad, ive been in the chat for 2 years, and boy it was fun, but then again, some of the side affects that aim gives us, randomly booting everyone in the rom out, not telling us when people enter the room, not allowing us to post link suddenly, with IRC, none of that stuff, and it is easier to share files among eachother, and if some immature people that really dont need to be in existance around us, we can boot them, for having a huge ego...
I vote me as a 2 year vet of the aim chat as an OP

#AMV on zirc.org
For a list of zirc servers go here or alternatively if you want to use a web-based irc client use zirc's own client here.
Further intergration into the org will happen later once things are settled down.
For a preliminary list of rules for the channel, go here.

Yeah, but no human has ever made Irc work on mac. I have had people who are IRC masters on pc come over and try to help me get going on irc, and it never works.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:Don't worry about that... we have an IRC server!

...Plus I hate irc.
*sigh* I don't really understand why we have to get rid of things. What's wrong with having both?
What was the aim chat room name again? (might have to Pm oni on this on?)

Re: Holy flying crap!
Regarding the Mac issue...
The web clients linked to on the IRC page seem to work perfectly fine for a lot of the people who want to visit the chat room.
I presume that Macs have web browsers
