Ok i got a bug i think - I went to my user panel to add my Twitter, Google+ and YouTube information and it's saying only alphanumeric symbols are allowed. What exactly are they asking me for then?

Are you entering the whole URL or just your username? I did the latter and it worked fine.

P.S. can someone explain to me the functional reason(s) for changing the forum? Like, what do we have now that will be implemented that we didn't before? And can you explain it to me in a way that isn't "go read this PhpBB update page with a bunch of super techy jargon"? Or is this purely "upgrading" for the sake of upgrading? I'm really trying to be positive about it, but it's hard when nobody has properly explained to me the reasoning for doing this in a way that a normal person can understand, and it's really aggravating to have to get used to a whole new layout when the old one has worked fine for almost 15 years (or at least the 8+ that I've been around) and there are no obvious advantages to having upgraded, nor any demand for it from the community.

Re: ALERT: Site Down for Maintenance on 12/13/15 2AM EST (COMPLETED)
The primary motivation for us to upgrade is that older versions are no longer supported by PhpBB. Yesterday we were running a version that was no longer receiving not just new features or bug fixes, but also security updates. Today we are running a fully supported version. Not updating the software that runs the org leaves us at a greater risk of being hacked. It would be as if we were still running WinXP... hoping hackers weren't sitting on an expoit. By running the current version we can also approach the PhpBB folks for help with bugs and security issues without them brushing us off.

The 3.0.x branch reaching end of life largely forced our hand here. In the future we will adopt newer versions more readily to avoid falling behind like we have.
