If you use SATA hard drives, you need a floppy to install the drivers first before you can install XP.

yea its always good to have a floppy drive

I think Floppy will have its use for some time. More than the computer brands would like to let known with there pre-install crap. Dell Support is a piece of bloody spam.

They don't even want to give you the re-install disc these days. Like Windows runs forever without the eventual need to format.

Like I said most (good) consoles use NVIDIA. Nintendo's last hit console was the SNES. I wish that were an exaggeration as I do miss Zelda.

The 360 really is nice, but it really hasn't pushed that far past the Xbox in all truth. They may suffer the Sega mistake of forcing the market ahead to soon.

The majority of the market is still PS2's NVIDIA (about 70+% until the 360 but that is gen 7 not 6). Xbox is dead as of some months ago when NVIDIA stopped production of its chip.

Oh and GameCube was not actually ATI it was ArtWorks I think or some sort of third party bought out by ATI.

Anyway, are there tricks to know in part searching?

Things to watch out for like when company's would measure monitors horizontal to inflate numbers or give you two RAM cards instead of one larger card.

If I wasn't trying to build right on the price-performance curve this would be easy. There always seems to be that point with computers where the money you shell out stops having a tremendous effect on power.

Well, if number of open DIMM slots isn't an issue, then the matched pair should actually perform better than a single stick, assuming your system supports dual-channel memory (and most these days do, IIRC).

ex = 2x 512MB sticks will out perform 1x 1GB stick

but you should be buying 2x 1GB sticks since more support 4GB

Yeah, I know about the daul stick deal, but manufactures used to leave out wether or not they were doing that. So if you bought a PC with intent of getting memory cheaper elsewhere then you got screwed.

Hell I saw a Compaq never before opened WITHOUT A FAN. I mean what the hell. Guess what killed the computer before they had me take a look.

I heard something about a model of laptop with a problem that got sold at a lower price under a different model number instead of an actual fix.

Then there was the thing about the "Core Solo" which I read in some cases is actuall a two core CPU with one dead core.

I think sometimes manufactures take advantage of the fact that the most people don't know the details. Some shady stuff has taken place in the computer business.

My Dell Dimension 4550 only has 1 120mm fan which ducted to CPU colling only only
I dont know how but the rest of the case stays cool

(i took this comp out of the garbage btw and reformated because it had 2000+ vires/spyware ect on it and it works fine and have been using it for the last 8 months with not much trouble with 2x 120GB HD, 2.4ghz Intel P4, ATI Radeon 9250)

Cant wait for my new rig
