....This is my problem...this is how a frame looks after I encode my video to MPEG-2 format.

Image
This is how it looks on the original AVI but I can't seem to figure out exactly why that only frame turns out that way during the conversion. I followed the guides but I can't seem to figure out exactly why that frame comes out distorted. I want to have the problem at least fixed by tomorrow but if not, then i guess i'll have to make do. Thanks in advance.

is 720 x 480 the resolution of the avi file you're trying to encode?

if it's not, you should make sure that it's mod 16 (height and width are both evenly divisible by 16.) Strange things can happen when your res isn't mod 16

I used AVISynth to resize it 720X480...the original video was 524x288. Should I try rendering the vid as 720X480?

Old thread etc., but now that it has been kicked anyway I'll reveal that this is most likely a Lagarith decoding error. This frame was determined to be such an error, and the frame the topic starter posted looks awfully similar. These errors are rare, but it might still not be a good idea to use Lagarith for your precious material.

You sometimes get similarly wonky frames from HuffYUV while exporting from NLEs, which is why I always export uncompressed.
