any shortcuts you can suggest?
i have a problem where the one clip i need to finish the lyrical part of my amv has a the credits running though it. is there any sort of short cut i can do to make editing them out any easier? i really dont expect this to be easy, but anything to not have to edit 90 frames in a painfully slow manner is better than nothing.

If they're all in the same place on the screen you can place a bar over the text, or a blur. You can do that with the logo filter in vdub in a matter of seconds. If they scroll down over the footage, or move around the screen, good luck. Try taking only the moving frames and editing them in a Photoshop program with layers - you might be able to use the same 'patches' on multiple frames rather than scrubbing out the text on every single frame.
A better plan is to ask around and make sure there isn't a textless opening/ending for that anime somewhere. Most newer series offer that in the extras. Even some of the unlicensed/older series have them if you can track down the right dvd. Once you know it exists it's just a matter of googling till you find it. ;p

Use a DVD that has a clean open/close as your source?
Ok, ok. We all know that was a joke. DVD source for a video, riiight. Sorry, I'm just a big kidder.
Anyway, seriously, here's how to use your downloaded footage: If the scene doesn't pan around or have much movement in it try grabbing a still frame from just before the credits roll and using that to cover up the credits. If it moves around too much to do that then your best bet it to hit up the file sharing sites and download a clean version of the credits.
DVD source. HA! I slay me.

the problem is there are alot of characters and they are scrolling. is there a good program to convert the video frames into an animated gif or something photoshop friendly?
the problem also is there isnt a textless ending on this one i have all the raws of it i know of. i don't really expect to see a dvd of this anytime soon, as the show just ended in japan a few weeks ago. good times esp since i need only a 3 second clip, and they let the credits run over the last scenes for sake of the drama of the scenes. :\

Normally I wouldn't argue with you, but even with newer series you can't always find a textless opening easily. One of my DVDs is suppossed to have a clean opening on it--it doesn't. The rest of the series doesn't even have it listed.godix wrote:Use a DVD that has a clean open/close as your source?
Usa, check the guides, there's one specifically on how to remove subtitles. That'll help you get the frames into Photoshop.
